Long-Term Eviny Agreement Supports Hydro’s Low-Carbon Aluminium Strategy

(IN BRIEF) Hydro Energy and Eviny Fornybar have signed a power purchase agreement covering 0.5 TWh of renewable electricity per year from 2031 to 2040. The agreement totals 5 TWh, with power to be delivered in Norway’s NO5 price area. The long-term arrangement supports Hydro’s future electricity needs and its ability to produce lower-carbon aluminium in Norway. It also gives Eviny greater predictability for renewable energy investment decisions.

(PRESS RELEASE) OSLO, 7-Jul-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Hydro Energy has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement with Eviny Fornybar for renewable electricity supply in Norway.

Under the agreement, Hydro will receive 0.5 TWh of renewable power annually from 2031 to 2040. The contract covers a total of 5 TWh of electricity over the ten-year period, with delivery taking place in Norway’s NO5 electricity price area.

The agreement provides Hydro with a predictable source of renewable power for part of its future electricity requirements in Norway. Long-term access to renewable energy remains central to the company’s production of lower-carbon aluminium and its broader technology roadmap towards net-zero emissions by 2050.

Hydro’s Norwegian aluminium operations are supported by renewable power, allowing the company to produce aluminium with a carbon footprint around 75% below the global average. The company’s primary aluminium plant in Årdal, located in the NO5 price area, produces sheet ingot and foundry alloys for the European market.

Kari Ekelund Thørud, Executive Vice President of Hydro Energy, said the agreement supports Hydro’s need for stable and renewable electricity supply while helping the company continue serving European demand for lower-carbon aluminium products.

For Eviny, the power purchase agreement provides long-term demand visibility that can support investment decisions in new renewable electricity generation. Sonja Chirico Indrebø, Executive Vice President of Eviny Fornybar, said predictable arrangements between industrial users and power producers are important for expanding the renewable capacity Norway will need in the coming years.

Hydro is pursuing several approaches to meet its future power needs. In addition to entering into long-term supply agreements, the company is developing new renewable energy projects and upgrading assets within its own renewable power portfolio.
