ETH Zurich, the Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI) and Swissgrid to host event to discuss “The grid of the future” on 18 June 2015

Frick, Switzerland, 6-4-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — ETH Zurich, the Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI) and Swissgrid are inviting interested parties to a discussion on «The grid of the future» on 18 June 2015. The event featuring presentations and a panel discussion will take place in the main building of ETH Zurich.

The transmission system plays a central role in the supply of electricity. If it is to meet the challenges of the future, it needs to be modernised. In concrete terms this involves the planning of an economically efficient, socially accepted and ecologically sustainable grid that is able to guarantee reliable supply at all times in the future too.

The event addresses this issue and invites you to embark with us on a voyage into the future.

Experts from the ETH, Swissgrid and Greenpeace will be providing an introduction to this subject by way of their input lectures. In the ensuing panel discussion, Dr Walter Steinmann, Director of the Federal Energy Office, Pierre-Alain Graf, CEO Swissgrid, Robert Schroeder, Manager System Development ENTSO-E, Sven Teske, Project Manager Greenpeace, Prof. Göran Andersson, Professor ETH Zurich and Antonella Battaglini, Executive Director RGI, will explain their positions with regard to the grid of the future.

The Grid Expo being held in the main hall of ETH Zurich will form the framework within which the event is taking place. It offers you the opportunity from 16 to 19 June to learn more about grid-related issues and to be inspired by innovative pylon designs.

Further information and the registration form for the event can be found at the adjacent link.

Participation is free of charge.
