Energiekontor Advances Portfolio Expansion Strategy With Commissioning of Lower Saxony Wind Park

(IN BRIEF) Energiekontor AG has commissioned the Holtumer Moor wind park in the district of Verden in Lower Saxony, Germany, and transferred it to the company’s own renewable energy portfolio. The project consists of one Vestas V162-7.2 wind turbine with a generation capacity of 7.2 megawatts and was commissioned as planned at the end of May 2026, following an EEG contract awarded by the German Federal Network Agency in 2024 and financial close in autumn 2024. With Holtumer Moor, Energiekontor’s own wind and solar portfolio has grown to around 455 megawatts. The company plans to add two solar parks in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania later in 2026, with a combined generation capacity of around 113 megawatts and long-term power purchase agreements already secured with Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH. This would increase the company’s own portfolio to more than 560 megawatts during the current financial year, while additional wind and solar projects under construction are expected to support further growth toward more than 680 megawatts in the coming years.

(PRESS RELEASE) BREMEN, 11-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Energiekontor AG has commissioned the Holtumer Moor wind park in Lower Saxony, Germany, and transferred the project to its own operating portfolio, continuing the company’s planned expansion of wind and solar assets held for long-term electricity generation revenues.

The Bremen-based project developer and operator of wind and solar parks said the Holtumer Moor project has a generation capacity of approximately seven megawatts. With the addition of the new wind park, Energiekontor’s own wind and solar portfolio has increased to around 455 megawatts.

The project is located in the district of Verden in Lower Saxony and consists of one Vestas V162-7.2 wind turbine with a generation capacity of 7.2 megawatts. Energiekontor commissioned the wind park at the end of May 2026 as planned, following the award of an EEG contract by the German Federal Network Agency in 2024 and financial close in autumn 2024.

The commissioning represents another step in Energiekontor’s strategy to increase the size of its own renewable energy portfolio. The company has previously announced plans to grow this portfolio to more than 680 megawatts in the coming years.

Further portfolio growth is expected during the current financial year. Energiekontor plans to commission two solar parks in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany, later in 2026. These projects have a combined generation capacity of around 113 megawatts and are also intended to be transferred to the company’s own portfolio.

Long-term power purchase agreements are already in place with Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH for both Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania solar parks. With these additions, Energiekontor expects its own portfolio to exceed 560 megawatts during the current financial year.

In addition to those two solar projects, Energiekontor currently has six further wind and solar park projects under construction for its own portfolio. These projects have a combined generation capacity of around 113 megawatts and are scheduled, based on current plans, to enter operation during the 2027 and 2028 financial years.

The company is also developing additional projects for its own portfolio. Energiekontor said the long-term expansion potential of the portfolio will increase steadily as further financial closes are achieved.

Alongside the commissioning of Holtumer Moor, Energiekontor has also advanced its wider project pipeline. The company recently received approval to build a wind park in Brandenburg, Germany, with a total generation capacity of approximately 26 megawatts. This brings the total generation capacity of Energiekontor’s permitted projects to more than one gigawatt.

Peter Szabo, CEO of Energiekontor AG, said the commissioning of Holtumer Moor continues the company’s announced expansion of its own portfolio. He said the projects currently under construction are laying the foundation for additional electricity generation revenues in the coming years, while Energiekontor continues to develop its project pipeline and work toward further financial closes.

The expansion reflects Energiekontor’s dual role as both a renewable energy project developer and long-term operator, combining project development activities with an increasing base of owned wind and solar assets.
