(IN BRIEF) FORVIA HELLA has started series production of the LeanLED II, a combined front and rear lamp product family for commercial and special vehicles. The new system expands on the first-generation LeanLED, which was available only as a rear lamp, by adding a front variant that enables manufacturers to create a consistent brand-specific light signature across the front and rear of their vehicles. Production has begun at the FORVIA HELLA site in Derabassi, India, with first customer projects already secured from an Austrian tractor manufacturer and a French cab manufacturer. Designed for vans, trucks, trailers, agricultural vehicles, municipal vehicles and other special-purpose applications, the LeanLED II is available in 33 variants and includes expanded rear-lamp functionality such as integrated reverse light and reflector. The product uses Glowing Body technology for a homogeneous three-dimensional lighting effect and EdgeLight technology for sharply defined signal functions, while improving efficiency and reducing material use compared with the previous model.

(PRESS RELEASE) LIPPSTADT, 11-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — FORVIA HELLA has started series production of the LeanLED II, a new combined front and rear lamp product family designed for commercial and special vehicles.

The new lighting system builds on the first-generation LeanLED, which was developed only as a rear lamp. With LeanLED II, FORVIA HELLA has added a front lamp variant, allowing manufacturers to create a consistent, brand-specific light signature across both the front and rear of a vehicle. The product family combines compact design, efficient LED technology and improved visibility for a broad range of vehicle applications.

Series production has begun at FORVIA HELLA’s manufacturing site in Derabassi, India. The first customer projects have already been secured, with an Austrian tractor manufacturer and a French cab manufacturer using the new LeanLED II system.

The LeanLED II has been developed for modern commercial vehicles, including vans, trucks and trailers, as well as municipal, agricultural and other special-purpose vehicles. The product family includes 33 variants, giving manufacturers flexibility to integrate the lamps into different vehicle platforms and design concepts.

Dirk Sossenheimer, Product Line Front & Signal Lighting at FORVIA HELLA, said the LeanLED II gives manufacturers a compact product family that can be integrated across different platforms while delivering reliable performance in demanding daily operations.

Compared with the previous model, the rear lamp version now includes additional functions such as reverse light and integrated reflector. These are added to tail, brake and direction indicator lights, helping improve visibility and safety during vehicle operation.

The front lamp version combines position light and turn signal in a robust housing that can be flexibly integrated into different vehicle fronts. FORVIA HELLA said the LeanLED II also fits the existing mounting points of the previous generation, making it easier for manufacturers to upgrade from the earlier model.

The LeanLED II uses two lighting technologies developed to provide both visual quality and efficient performance. For tail and position lights, the system uses Glowing Body technology, which creates a homogeneous lighting effect and a premium appearance even during the day when the lamp is not illuminated. The modular system uses a diffusely illuminated solid body to create a three-dimensional effect.

Other lighting functions are based on FORVIA HELLA’s EdgeLight technology. In this design, light emerges from a narrow strip inside the lamp, with several LEDs coupling light into the system so that it radiates along the full length. The result is a sharply defined and highly visible signal light function.

FORVIA HELLA said the use of EdgeLight technology also supports greater efficiency, with improved LED performance and reduced material use compared with the previous generation.

With LeanLED II, FORVIA HELLA is expanding its lighting offer for manufacturers of commercial and special vehicles, combining robust design, expanded functionality, platform flexibility and a consistent front-and-rear lighting identity.
