Energiekontor Achieves Financial Close for Bützfleth Wind Project Advancing Construction of 17 Megawatt Renewable Energy Facility

(IN BRIEF) Energiekontor AG has reached financial close for its Bützfleth wind project in Lower Saxony, allowing construction to move forward with operations expected to begin by the end of 2027. The project, which will feature three Enercon turbines with a total capacity of around 17 megawatts, is expected to generate approximately 53 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually, supplying over 16,000 households and reducing CO2 emissions by around 40,000 tonnes each year. Alongside its energy output, the development includes environmental measures such as a 43-hectare habitat area for wildlife. The milestone highlights Energiekontor’s strong track record in project financing and its flexible strategy of either selling completed assets or incorporating them into its own portfolio.

(PRESS RELEASE) BREMEN, 20-Mar-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Energiekontor AG, the Bremen-based developer and operator of wind and solar parks listed in the General Standard, has successfully achieved financial close for its Bützfleth wind project, marking a key step toward the start of construction.

The project had previously secured planning approval and was awarded a contract through the Federal Network Agency’s EEG tender in May 2025. With financing now in place, the development is moving forward according to schedule, with commissioning targeted for the end of 2027. The wind park is intended for sale once completed.

Located in the district of Stade in Lower Saxony, the project will consist of three wind turbines supplied by Enercon. Each turbine will have a nominal capacity of 5.6 megawatts, resulting in a total installed capacity of approximately 17 megawatts. The selected E160-EP5 E3 turbine model will feature a hub height of 120 metres and a rotor diameter of 160 metres, supporting efficient energy generation.

Once fully operational, the wind park is expected to produce around 53 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually. This output is sufficient to supply renewable energy to more than 16,000 households while reducing carbon emissions by approximately 40,000 tonnes per year.

In addition to its energy generation benefits, the project incorporates environmental measures designed to offset its impact on the surrounding ecosystem. These include the development of a designated 43-hectare area to provide a habitat for wildlife, particularly serving as a resting and feeding ground for migratory geese such as white-fronted geese.

The successful financial close of the Bützfleth project reflects Energiekontor’s continued ability to advance projects through development and financing stages within a competitive market environment. The company has demonstrated strong momentum in this area, having reached financial close on 14 projects in the previous year, representing a combined capacity exceeding 350 megawatts.

Energiekontor continues to pursue a flexible business model, enabling it to either divest completed projects or integrate them into its own portfolio, while adapting its development strategy in response to evolving market conditions and maintaining its focus on long-term growth.
