(IN BRIEF) BT Group plc has appointed Jon James as CEO of BT Business, effective 3 March 2025, following his successful tenure as CEO of Nuuday in Denmark, where he led the company through a transformative growth phase. (PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 30-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — BT Group plc has announced the appointment of Jon James as the new CEO of BT Business, effective 3 March 2025. He will also join the company’s Executive Committee as part of a broader effort to concentrate BT Business’s efforts on the UK market.

Jon comes to BT from Nuuday, Denmark’s leading telecommunications provider, where he served as CEO since 2021. During his tenure, he successfully steered the company through a transformative phase, driving its return to growth.

Allison Kirkby, BT Group CEO, expressed her excitement about Jon’s appointment, stating, “I am thrilled to welcome Jon to BT and look forward to working alongside him once again. His wealth of experience in the UK and European telecoms markets, as well as his proven ability to lead companies through significant transformations, will be immensely valuable as we sharpen BT Business’s focus on the UK market.”

Jon James shared his enthusiasm about the new role, adding, “It’s both a privilege and an exciting opportunity to join BT as CEO of BT Business. With its strong customer relationships and cutting-edge technological expertise, BT Business stands as the UK’s leader in B2B telecoms. I look forward to collaborating with Allison, Bas, and the BT Business team to further strengthen our position for the benefit of our customers, shareholders, and the UK as a whole.”

Earlier this year, BT announced its intention to optimize its international operations, exploring potential partnerships, with a view to becoming a more UK-centric organization. Jon’s appointment allows Bas Burger, the current CEO of BT Business, to focus entirely on refining BT’s international strategy and exploring possible avenues for the unit’s future.

Allison Kirkby also took the opportunity to thank Bas for his leadership of BT Business, noting, “Bas has played an instrumental role in the development of BT Business. His in-depth knowledge of the telecoms sector, especially with multinational corporations, and his strong relationships with key stakeholders will be critical as we assess future options for our international business.”
