(PRESS RELEASE) LUDWIGSHAFEN, 25-Oct-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — BASF (ETR: BAS), the world’s largest chemical producer, is set to unveil its latest offerings for the home care, industrial & institutional (I&I) cleaning, and personal care markets at the SEPAWA Congress in Berlin from October 25 to 27. These solutions are part of BASF’s Care Chemicals Initiative Care 360° – Solutions for Sustainable Life, a comprehensive approach encompassing sustainability, digitalization, innovation, and collaborative approaches to address the future challenges of key industries. BASF will be sharing booths 137-139, 154-155, 142, and 151-152 with its European sales organization, BTC Europe.

Lavergy® M Ace 100 L: Innovative Mannanase for Effective and Sustainable Laundry Care

Enzymes play a crucial role in modern detergent formulations, enabling effective and sustainable stain removal in both household and commercial laundry applications. BASF’s enzyme portfolio expansion introduces Lavergy® M Ace 100 L, a cutting-edge mannanase designed to excel in cold and short wash cycles, effectively combating stains from guar gum and locust bean gum, commonly found in processed food products. Cold washing conserves energy, reducing carbon emissions and costs. Combining mannanase with other Lavergy® enzymes and BASF’s high-performance portfolio products enhances detergent efficiency, ensuring clean clothes even under challenging conditions.

Sokalan® Ecopure C: A Biodegradable Polymer for Eco-Friendly Automatic Dishwashing

Consumers seek eco-friendly options without compromising cleaning quality. BASF’s innovative solution combines the biodegradable polymer Sokalan® Ecopure C with the sustainable complexing agent Trilon® M. This combination effectively removes tough stains from glassware, dishes, and cutlery while being gentle on the environment. Consumers can continue using their preferred automatic dishwashing detergent format, whether it’s powder, liquid, capsules, or tablets, while reducing their environmental footprint.

Advancing Sustainability in Personal Care

BASF’s Personal Care unit is dedicated to driving sustainable innovations, particularly as it directly impacts end consumers. Dr. Becky Stiles, Head of Applied Sustainability, EU & APAC, Care Chemicals, BASF, emphasized, “I’m pleased that we’re taking responsibility and offering our customers opportunities to increase transparency and sustainability in their value chains.”

Emulgade® Verde 10 MS: A Versatile O/W Emulsifier for Natural Formulations

Consumers increasingly favor natural products that enhance well-being and skin health. Emulgade® Verde 10 MS, BASF’s latest O/W emulsifier, supports this trend. It is derived from 100% renewable feedstocks, is readily biodegradable, and manufactured using an environmentally friendly solvent-free process. This COSMOS approved ingredient is preservative-free and offers outstanding stability in O/W creams and lotions, compatibility with various cosmetic ingredients, and suitability for sensitive skin. It can be used for microbiome-friendly concepts.

Digital Progress for Sustainability Transparency

Adapting to market demands for sustainable alternatives requires formulators to rethink and rebuild traditional ingredients. BASF’s Product Carbon Footprints (PCF) integrated into the digital service D’lite provides customers with insights into the total greenhouse gas emissions associated with BASF products. The service aligns with international standard ISO 14067:2018 and offers information on various certifications, including EU Ecolabel, COSMOS, and NATRUE. D’lite simplifies laboratory work and supports efficient product development.
