(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 11-Mar-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Colas has secured a major infrastructure contract in the United States through its American subsidiary Sully-Miller Contracting Co., which has been selected by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority to expand and modernize a key stretch of Interstate 10 in California. The project, valued at approximately €264 million, will involve the construction of new express lanes as well as improvements to existing freight and general traffic lanes along the corridor.

The infrastructure development will span roughly 6.2 miles (10 kilometers) and pass through the cities of Ontario, Fontana, and Bloomington in San Bernardino County. The upgrades are intended to ease congestion, strengthen freight mobility along the corridor, and contribute to the region’s broader economic development by improving one of Southern California’s important transport routes.

Construction work is scheduled to begin in April 2026 and continue through the fall of 2029. The project includes the addition of an express lane in both directions along the section of Interstate 10 between Pepper Avenue and the Interstate 15 interchange. The new lanes will operate with two-way tolling. To accommodate the expansion, Sully-Miller teams will widen existing roadways and several bridges while also modifying access ramps, highway interchanges, and major structural elements connected to the corridor.

The plan also calls for enhancements to multiple access points to support improved traffic flow and safety. Five expressway entry points will be upgraded through the addition of auxiliary lanes or extended acceleration lanes, with three located on the westbound side and two on the eastbound side. In addition, two intermediate access locations will be configured as combined entry and exit points in both directions. Another access point positioned east of the Interstate 15 interchange will provide westbound entry only.

Existing entrance and exit ramps will also be redeveloped as part of the project in order to maintain continuous service and ensure more efficient traffic management once the express lanes are in operation.

Funding for the initiative is being provided through a combination of local resources from San Bernardino County as well as state and federal transportation budgets.

John Harrington, Executive Vice President for the United States, noted that the contract reflects the strong relationship between the company and transportation authorities in California. He highlighted the importance of the project for the region and expressed pride in contributing to a large-scale infrastructure effort that will benefit mobility in San Bernardino County.

Pierre Vanstoflegatte, Chief Executive Officer of the Colas Group, emphasized that the project aligns with the Group’s strategy of expanding its role in delivering complex and large-scale infrastructure developments across the United States. He pointed to the capabilities of Colas teams in providing technical expertise, responsiveness, and engineering know-how to support demanding transportation projects.

The contract also reinforces Colas’ longstanding presence in the U.S. transport infrastructure sector. The Group and its subsidiaries regularly participate in highway development and modernization projects across the country, particularly in California, where they frequently collaborate with the California Department of Transportation as well as local counties and municipalities on major roadway initiatives.
