(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 15-Oct-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — ABL, part of ABL Group ASA, has been appointed by United India Insurance (UIIC) to oversee and provide marine warranty services for Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) rig movements scheduled between September 2025 and May 2026. The contract reinforces ABL’s long-standing partnership with ONGC and its role as a trusted technical advisor in ensuring safe and efficient offshore rig operations across India’s west coast.

Under the agreement, ABL will act as the Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) for approximately 25 ONGC rig moves, and will additionally provide tow master and MWS services for around 70 third-party jack-up rig moves within ONGC-operated fields during the contract term. The total scope includes an estimated 34 relocations of rigs to new positions ahead of the Indian monsoon season, typically from March through June. The project covers ONGC’s complete fleet of jack-up rigs and mobile offshore drilling units (MODUs) operating in Indian waters.

“We have a long history of supporting ONGC in reducing operational risks and executing their rig moves safely and efficiently,” said Captain Stephen Craig, ABL’s Director for Rig Operations. “Our multi-disciplinary team combines decades of practical expertise with a detailed understanding of environmental and technical challenges. This contract highlights the strength of our collaboration with ONGC and our shared commitment to safe, reliable rig operations.”

In 2024, ABL successfully supported over 1,500 rig moves worldwide, offering services such as marine warranty surveying, tow master support, client representation, and engineering consultancy. The company’s global Rig Operations Team benefits from close collaboration with Longitude, its sister company specialising in geoscience, metocean studies, and jack-up engineering. Together, they deliver integrated, data-driven solutions to support complex offshore operations.

Both ABL and Longitude are part of ABL Group ASA, a global technical and advisory consultancy listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, recognised for its expertise in marine, offshore, and energy sectors.
