MAHLE Sustainability Report 2025 Highlights Accelerated Emissions Cuts Circular Innovation and Safer Operations Across Global Sites

(IN BRIEF) MAHLE’s Sustainability Report 2025 highlights strong progress across environmental, social, and operational areas, with the company nearing its 2030 emissions reduction targets after cutting Scope 1 and 2 emissions by nearly half. The integration of the sustainability report into the annual report reflects a deeper strategic focus on responsible business practices. Beyond emissions, MAHLE has strengthened its supply chain oversight, expanded the use of circular and bio-based materials, and significantly improved workplace safety, reducing accident rates below industry averages. The company is also accelerating decarbonization through renewable energy adoption, photovoltaic installations, EV charging infrastructure, and low-emission logistics solutions. These combined efforts demonstrate a comprehensive approach to sustainability embedded across the organization.

(PRESS RELEASE) STUTTGART, 22-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — MAHLE has released its Sustainability Report 2025, now incorporated into the company’s Annual Report for the first time, highlighting the growing importance of sustainability within its long-term corporate strategy. The latest report demonstrates that the automotive supplier is progressing faster than planned toward its climate goals, with substantial reductions in emissions already achieved.

The company has lowered its Scope 1 and 2 CO₂ emissions—those generated from its own operations and energy consumption—by nearly 50 percent compared to its 2019 baseline. This places MAHLE within close reach of its 2030 reduction target. At the same time, emissions across its value chain (Scope 3) have declined by 23 percent, reflecting broader efforts to address environmental impact beyond direct operations.

MAHLE has also intensified its focus on building a responsible and transparent supply chain. Through enhanced auditing practices and its participation in the Responsible Supply Chain Initiative, the company continues to strengthen oversight of labor conditions and environmental standards among its suppliers. These efforts align with the requirements outlined in its Supplier Code of Conduct.

Sustainability is increasingly embedded across all areas of the business, from product development to procurement and manufacturing. The company is expanding the use of recycled and bio-based materials, advancing circular product design, and integrating sustainability criteria into operational decision-making processes.

Significant progress has also been made in workplace safety. Since 2022, the number of accidents resulting in lost workdays has been reduced by half. In 2025 alone, the accident rate declined by 19 percent to 1.7 incidents per one million hours worked, placing MAHLE below the industry average. These improvements have been recognized by several external organizations through safety-related awards.

To further reduce its environmental footprint, MAHLE is deploying a variety of decarbonization measures. Renewable energy accounted for 17 percent of its total electricity consumption in 2025, while several global locations are now powered by photovoltaic systems. Facilities in Germany have already achieved carbon neutrality through the use of green electricity and emissions offsetting. Additionally, a major photovoltaic-thermal system is currently under installation at the company’s Vaihingen/Enz site, which will supply both electricity and heat.

The company is also expanding its electric vehicle charging infrastructure, with more than 300 charging points installed at employee parking areas across Germany. In logistics, MAHLE has replaced fossil diesel with HVO100 biofuel for transport operations between key sites, reducing CO₂ emissions by over 90 percent.

Material innovation remains a key pillar of MAHLE’s sustainability strategy, with initiatives focused on reducing resource consumption throughout the product lifecycle. This includes the use of certified sustainable materials such as FSC-certified components in vehicle cabin air filters.

By integrating sustainability into its core operations and continuously advancing its environmental, social, and governance practices, MAHLE reinforces its commitment to responsible business conduct and long-term value creation.
