The analysis highlights how the company’s ecosystem contributes tens of billions of euros in value while supporting millions of jobs across multiple regions.

Since its founding in Berlin 15 years ago, Delivery Hero has grown into a global operation handling more than 10 million daily orders. The study, conducted by the Centre for Economics and Business Research, demonstrates that each transaction on the platform generates a ripple effect that extends far beyond the initial purchase.

The findings show that the company’s ecosystem contributes approximately €62.7 billion annually to gross domestic product across its markets, with around 2.5 million jobs supported through its network. This scale places the platform’s economic influence on par with that of a large national industry, underlining the growing importance of digital platforms in modern economies.

A significant portion of this value is generated outside the company itself. Around 75 percent flows directly to partner businesses such as restaurants, retailers, and suppliers, reflecting the platform’s role as an enabler of broader commercial activity rather than solely a direct producer of value. The study further highlights a strong multiplier effect, with every €1 generated by the platform leading to an additional €23.74 in economic activity across its ecosystem.

The report also emphasizes the interconnected nature of platform-based commerce. Orders placed through the system stimulate demand across supply chains, create earning opportunities for delivery riders, and support the growth of local businesses. These effects contribute to increased economic participation and reinforce the role of digital platforms in sustaining local economies.

Across different regions, the impact varies but remains substantial. The analysis points to strong contributions in Asia, including significant GDP growth and job creation, as well as measurable tax contributions in Europe. These outcomes reflect the widespread integration of delivery platforms into everyday economic activity.

To illustrate its impact, Delivery Hero has categorized its contributions into three areas: enabling mobility, facilitating trade, and supporting growth.
