(PRESS RELEASE) SÖDERTÄLJE, 22-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Scania has secured multiple five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP under its Safer Trucks initiative, reinforcing the company’s focus on advanced safety performance in urban and regional transport. The latest recognition includes the P-series cab P4x2 distribution model, along with the P6x2 utility and L4x2 distribution variants, further building on earlier top ratings for the L6x2 utility configuration.

The evaluation of the P-series cab, designed for distribution operations, resulted not only in a five-star overall rating but also the highest possible score in the CitySafe category. This distinction highlights the vehicle’s strong performance in preventing accidents in urban environments, particularly where interaction with vulnerable road users is most critical.

Euro NCAP’s assessment emphasised the effectiveness of Scania’s updated crash avoidance systems, which achieved an overall score of 93 percent. Key safety technologies demonstrated strong capabilities in mitigating frontal collisions, preventing unintended lane departures, and protecting cyclists during turning manoeuvres. In particular, the Vulnerable Road User Brake Side system delivered a perfect score, underscoring its effectiveness in high-risk scenarios.

The P-series cab is designed to support a wide range of applications, from city distribution to more demanding operational environments such as construction. Its elevated driving position provides clear forward visibility, while additional features such as the City Door further improve the driver’s ability to monitor surrounding traffic conditions.

Scania’s L-series cab also continues to perform strongly in safety evaluations. Originally developed with urban operations in mind, the L-cab combines a lower seating position with enhanced direct vision, offering improved awareness of pedestrians and cyclists. Its ergonomic design and accessibility features make it particularly suited to dense city environments.

Both cab types are part of Scania’s modular vehicle platform, ensuring a consistent driver experience across different configurations. This approach allows operators to benefit from familiar layouts and controls, contributing to efficiency, comfort, and safer operation.

The latest results demonstrate Scania’s continued investment in safety technologies aimed at reducing risks for both drivers and other road users. By integrating advanced systems and design features, the company is addressing the evolving safety expectations of cities, customers, and transport operators.
