(PRESS RELEASE) BASEL, 6-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Syngenta Crop Protection and Maersk have extended their partnership for another five years, deepening their collaborative commitment to optimizing supply chain efficiency and sustainability. This extended fourth-party logistics (4PL) arrangement leverages Maersk’s expertise in end-to-end logistics management, which involves coordinating resources, technology, and multiple logistics providers to create tailored supply chain solutions from origin to destination.

A central focus of this partnership is advancing sustainability in logistics, with both companies prioritizing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions across the supply chain. Maersk has set a net-zero GHG emissions target by 2040, while Syngenta is committed to decarbonizing its operations. Regular emissions reporting and continuous dialogue on sustainability goals are integral to their shared strategy.

Over the last eight years, this partnership has demonstrated resilience through global disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic and Red Sea crisis. The companies have also identified new opportunities to lower GHG emissions within Syngenta’s supply chain.

Mike Hollands, Syngenta’s Global Head of Production & Supply, emphasized the partnership’s alignment in sustainability and innovation, stating, “Our collaboration with Maersk has proven invaluable, and we’re excited to continue implementing advanced solutions for optimized supply chains using digital logistics and AI.” Dimitris Armenakis, Global Head of Managed by Maersk Product, highlighted Maersk’s role in simplifying and enhancing customer supply chains, adding, “Our success is tied to our customers’ success, and we’re dedicated to continuously innovating to add value.”
