Indra Highlights Next-Generation Naval Technologies Enhancing Submarine Intelligence and Survivability

(IN BRIEF) Indra is showcasing its advanced submarine technologies at the Underwater Defence Technology exhibition in London, presenting a range of systems including satellite communications, electronic warfare solutions, and navigation radars. The company’s TSUB-40 communications suite, iKeeper-iS20 radar, and PEGASO Full Digital electronic warfare systems highlight its leadership in enhancing submarine intelligence, survivability, and operational performance. With systems already deployed across leading global navies, Indra is reinforcing its position as a key supplier in the defence sector. The company is also emphasizing innovation through research initiatives focused on seabed security and autonomous threat detection, while continuing to provide training, simulation, and maintenance solutions aligned with NATO standards.

(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 14-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Indra is set to showcase its latest advancements in submarine communications, electronic warfare, and navigation systems at the Underwater Defence Technology UDT, taking place in London from April 14 to 16. The company will present a comprehensive portfolio of cutting-edge technologies designed to enhance the operational effectiveness, intelligence capabilities, and survivability of modern submarines.

Indra has established itself as a leading European provider of Full Digital electronic warfare systems, delivering advanced solutions to some of the most technologically advanced navies worldwide. Its systems are currently deployed by naval forces across Europe, including Spain, Germany, Norway, Portugal, and Italy, as well as in Asia with countries such as India and South Korea.

At the exhibition, Indra will feature a detailed representation of a submarine sail equipped with its integrated systems, demonstrating how multiple technologies can be deployed across mast structures while maintaining performance, robustness, and compact design. This approach highlights the company’s focus on optimizing space and functionality in submarine platforms.

A key highlight of the showcase is the TSUB-40 satellite communications suite, which supports X, Ka, and Ku frequency bands and incorporates three-axis pointing technology. This capability ensures highly stable and secure communications links with minimal power consumption and high data transmission rates. The system is already certified for operation with the Spainsat NG and is in line for certification with the Wideband Global SATCOM network.

In addition, Indra will present its iKeeper-iS20 navigation radar, a solid-state, low-probability-of-intercept system operating in the X band. Designed for both navigation and surface surveillance, the radar offers dual operational modes and high-resolution capabilities, supporting stealth operations while maintaining situational awareness.

The company’s PEGASO Full Digital electronic warfare solutions will also be featured, providing submarines with advanced detection, surveillance, and intelligence-gathering capabilities. These systems cover an extended electromagnetic spectrum and integrate artificial intelligence algorithms to analyze signals in real time, enabling near-total detection probability along with accurate identification, tracking, and classification of potential threats.

Beyond hardware, Indra will highlight its training and simulation technologies, which support crew preparation and mission planning in realistic tactical environments. The company will also present its maintenance services, aligned with NATO standards, aimed at maximizing operational readiness and extending the lifecycle of naval platforms.

As part of its innovation agenda, Indra continues to invest in research initiatives focused on emerging defence challenges. One such area is seabed monitoring and control, which is gaining strategic importance in maritime security. The company is actively involved in European research projects such as SMAUG, exploring advanced capabilities for autonomous threat detection and analysis across the full maritime domain.

Indra’s participation in UDT underscores its role as a global technology partner for navies and shipbuilders, delivering integrated systems for a wide range of submarine platforms, including S70, S80, U209, U214, U212, Kilo class, and KSS III submarines. Through its multidomain capabilities, the company continues to support the evolution of naval operations in increasingly complex and demanding environments.
