(IN BRIEF) Maersk Senegal has been honoured with the Level 1 CSR Label by the Conseil National du Patronat (CNP) during the 2025 Assises de l’Entreprise, acknowledging its leadership in responsible business practices and social impact. Central to its CSR strategy is the partnership with Women in Logistics Africa (WILA), which has helped over a hundred women gain career opportunities in the logistics sector across multiple African nations. With rising integration rates and growing community impact, the mentorship programme stands as a cornerstone of Maersk’s inclusion agenda. Supported by a dedicated CSR framework and strong governance standards, Maersk Senegal continues to drive sustainable growth, gender equity, and economic progress throughout the region.

(PRESS RELEASE) DAKAR, 28-Oct-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — A.P. Moller – Maersk Senegal has achieved a major milestone in its sustainability journey, receiving the Level 1 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Label from the Conseil National du Patronat (CNP). The recognition, awarded during the 2025 Assises de l’Entreprise by Amadou Moustapha Ndiack Sarre, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, highlights Maersk’s consistent efforts to integrate responsible business practices and promote inclusive growth across Senegal.

Central to Maersk Senegal’s CSR initiatives is its collaboration with Women in Logistics Africa (WILA) — a transformative mentorship programme that empowers women to build careers in the logistics and supply chain industry. Since 2022, the initiative has supported 119 participants across Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and the DRC. Nearly half of the mentees have successfully transitioned into professional roles, with employability rates rising from 36% in 2022 to 64% among the 2025 cohort. The programme’s 100% satisfaction rate underscores its strong influence and tangible outcomes.

The training curriculum, developed in partnership with key logistics organisations, covers a range of practical and professional competencies including warehouse management, supply chain fundamentals, Lean processes, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Mentors — seasoned professionals with over ten years of experience — volunteer to guide participants through regular mentorship sessions, offering continuous feedback and tailored career support. Four Maersk Senegal mentors are currently contributing their expertise to this year’s programme.

“This mentorship journey offers women a platform to grow, reflect, and connect within a supportive community,” said Fatou Cheikhou Thiam, a participant in the initiative. Her experience reflects the programme’s broader mission to promote gender inclusion and professional advancement within the logistics field.

Speaking about the achievement, Mame Khoudia Diop, Country Managing Director of Maersk Senegal, commented, “Being honoured with the Level 1 CSR Label is a proud moment for our team. It reflects the impact of our social initiatives and reinforces our purpose of connecting and improving lives. By investing in women’s empowerment and sustainable practices, we are helping to build a stronger, more resilient economy for Senegal.”

Maersk Senegal continues to embed CSR across its operations through the establishment of a dedicated CSR team, collaboration with external sustainability experts, and adherence to global standards in governance, ethics, and environmental responsibility. The company’s initial CNP assessment earned a score of 3 out of 4 — a strong indicator of excellence in job creation, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.

With this latest recognition, Maersk Senegal is poised to further expand its social impact, deepen partnerships, and continue setting benchmarks for responsible, inclusive, and sustainable logistics in West Africa.
