(IN BRIEF) Equinor has sold an 8.07 percent stake in Scatec for approximately NOK 1.6 billion, reducing its shareholding to 8.05 percent while agreeing to a 90-day lock-up period on its remaining shares. The company originally became a shareholder in 2018 and increased its stake to over 16 percent in subsequent years. Despite the divestment, Equinor and Scatec will continue their collaboration on solar energy projects in Brazil, including the Apodi and Mendubim assets, ensuring that their operational partnership remains unaffected.

(PRESS RELEASE) STAVANGER, 14-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Equinor has completed the partial divestment of its stake in Scatec, selling an 8.07 percent shareholding at a price of NOK 125 per share. The transaction generated total proceeds of approximately NOK 1.6 billion.

Following the sale, Equinor retains an 8.05 percent ownership interest in Scatec and has committed to a 90-day lock-up period for its remaining shares, limiting further disposals during that timeframe.

Equinor initially acquired a minority position in Scatec in 2018 and subsequently expanded its holding to 16.12 percent through a series of share purchases between 2019 and 2023. Over the course of its investment, the company’s average entry price, including dividends received, has been around NOK 80 per share.

Despite the reduction in equity participation, the operational collaboration between the two companies remains unchanged. Equinor and Scatec continue to jointly develop and operate solar energy projects in Brazil, including the Apodi and Mendubim assets, maintaining their partnership in these renewable energy ventures.

The transaction reflects a strategic portfolio adjustment while preserving ongoing cooperation in key international renewable energy projects.
