(IN BRIEF) T-Systems, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, has partnered with EDAG Group to drive the digital transformation of industrial SMEs using sovereign European cloud and AI solutions. By hosting EDAG’s metys industrial metaverse platform on T Cloud Public and leveraging the Industrial AI Cloud, the collaboration enables companies to connect development, production, and sustainability processes within a unified digital ecosystem. The initiative provides SMEs with access to high-performance computing, AI-driven tools, and scalable cloud services while ensuring data sovereignty and regulatory compliance. Through practical applications such as virtual prototyping, real-time production planning, and energy optimization, the partnership aims to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance competitiveness across the European industrial sector.

(PRESS RELEASE) BONN, 20-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — T-Systems, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, has partnered with EDAG Group to accelerate the digital transformation of industrial small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through sovereign European cloud and AI technologies. As part of the collaboration, EDAG will operate its industrial metaverse platform “metys” on Telekom’s T Cloud Public, making it one of the first major engineering firms to deploy such a platform on a sovereign cloud infrastructure.

In addition, EDAG will utilize Telekom’s Industrial AI Cloud, a platform specifically developed to support high-performance AI workloads. Together, these solutions provide a secure and scalable environment aligned with European data protection standards, while enabling SMEs to access advanced computing resources, including NVIDIA-powered systems for AI training and simulation. This combination ensures both operational efficiency and data sovereignty, key priorities for European industry.

Harald Keller, CEO of EDAG Group, explained that the metys platform is designed to enable seamless digital value creation across the entire industrial lifecycle, from product development to production. Leveraging Telekom’s cloud infrastructure provides the platform with the scalability, performance, and security required to deliver advanced digital capabilities to industrial users.

Ferri Abolhassan, Member of the Board of Management at Deutsche Telekom and CEO of T-Systems, emphasized that sovereign European cloud infrastructure represents a strategic advantage for SMEs. By combining T Cloud Public, the Industrial AI Cloud, and EDAG’s engineering expertise, the partnership aims to simplify access to AI and cloud technologies while ensuring control over data and operations.

The metys platform integrates virtual product development with real-world production processes, creating a unified industrial metaverse environment. Built on NVIDIA Omniverse libraries and OpenUSD standards, it consolidates simulation, analytics, and AI models into a single development framework, enabling more efficient and data-driven industrial workflows.

To support SMEs, EDAG plans to provide ready-to-use solution packages via the metys platform. These packages will offer tailored access to Industrial AI Cloud resources and combine modular AI, simulation, and cloud services, enabling companies to adopt digital technologies quickly and scale their operations efficiently. This approach makes advanced digital tools more accessible while maintaining flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

The collaboration focuses on delivering practical benefits for industrial SMEs. Virtual prototyping capabilities help reduce material costs and shorten development cycles, while real-time analytics enable more resilient supply chains and adaptive production planning. AI-driven simulations also support more sustainable manufacturing processes by optimizing energy use and conserving resources.

Telekom’s Industrial AI Cloud, based in Munich, provides scalable infrastructure designed for training and operating large AI models. Meanwhile, T Cloud Public offers a sovereign cloud platform hosted across Germany and Europe, ensuring compliance with stringent data protection and security requirements. By the end of 2026, the platform is expected to reach functional parity with leading global cloud providers, further strengthening Europe’s industrial competitiveness.

Through this collaboration, T-Systems and EDAG are establishing a comprehensive innovation platform that combines engineering expertise with advanced AI and cloud technologies, supporting SMEs in their digital transformation journey while reinforcing Europe’s technological sovereignty.
