Sky Kids Launches ‘Save Our Wildlife’ Documentary and ‘Obki’ Season 3 to Encourage Environmental Awareness in Children

(IN BRIEF) Sky is set to release a new documentary titled “Save Our Wildlife” on October 9, aimed at inspiring children and families to protect the planet. The documentary, in partnership with Sky Zero, follows eight-year-old conservationist Aneeshwar Kunchala and friends from around the world as they focus on the threats facing iconic species and explore conservation efforts in various countries. Additionally, the third season of “Obki,” featuring an eco-friendly alien and new friends, will premiere in November, teaching children about making a positive impact on the environment through humor and comedy.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 6-Oct-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Sky has announced a brand-new documentary Save Our Wildlife set to hit Sky Kids platforms on 9 October. The show will also air on Sky News on 2 and 3 December whilst COP 28 takes place.

This one-off special in partnership with Sky Zero sees eight-year-old conservationist Aneeshwar Kunchala and five friends from around the world focus on the threats facing six iconic species. From elephants to Bengal tigers, green sea turtles to majestic Monarch butterflies, young viewers will find out why the populations are in decline and what can be done to save them.

Kids report from the UK, Mexico, Australia, India, Kenya, and the Arctic as they look at how animals are being looked after and protected from the effects of climate change. In the UK, kids learn about how they can protect wildlife, focusing specifically on butterflies and bees.

And that’s not all, next month will see Obki the eco-friendly alien return for a third season with new friends such as Lumi the Penguin and Pax the Panda, as they take on adventures as they learn how to help save the planet. Full of humour and comedy throughout, this series aims to teach kids that small changes can make a big difference, offering actionable solutions in a fun and easily digestible format.

Lucy Murphy, Director of Kids at Sky UK and Ireland said: “Save Our Wildlife is an important documentary in raising awareness of climate issues and showing young people how they can help protect the environment. We’re using the power of our voice and our characters like Obki to inspire children and their families to make positive changes that will benefit the planet.”

To help children and families do their bit to protect the planet, Sky Zero is partnering with WWF to offer an online hub of resources and activities related to the wildlife from Save Our Wildlife. This hub will give kids and families a way to connect with nature in their everyday life and will be available on www.skyzero.sky/kids from 9 October.
