Skanska to Construct Sustainable Residential and Commercial Complex in Gothenburg’s Masthuggskajen

(IN BRIEF) Skanska has entered into an agreement with Elof Hansson Fastigheter and Riksbyggen to develop a new residential block and commercial premises at Masthuggskajen in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a contract valued at approximately SEK 340 million. The project encompasses 114 new apartments, with Riksbyggen overseeing 69 condominiums and Elof Hansson Fastigheter managing 45 rental units along with around 3,000 square meters of commercial space. The complex, consisting of three interconnected buildings, including two 18-storey towers flanking a three-storey structure, will prioritize sustainability, aiming for a 25 percent reduction in combined climate impact from concrete and reinforcing steel production. Environmental certification according to Miljöbyggnad, level Silver, is also targeted. Construction is slated to commence in the first quarter of 2024, with completion expected by spring 2027, reflecting Skanska’s commitment to eco-conscious urban development.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 20-Feb-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska has signed an agreement with Elof Hansson Fastigheter and Riksbyggen to build a new residential block and commercial premises at Masthuggskajen in Gothenburg, Sweden. The contract is worth about SEK 340M, which will be included in the order bookings for Sweden in the first quarter of 2024.

In total, there will be 114 new apartments in the block where Riksbyggen is responsible for 69 condominium apartments and Elof Hansson Fastigheter is responsible for 45 rental apartments and approximately 3,000 square meters of commercial premises.

There will be a total of three houses that are linked together. A three-storey building flanked by two 18-storey buildings where the commercial premises are placed on the lowest floors and the residences above.

Sustainability is an important focus area in the construction project. One goal is to achieve a 25 percent combined climate reduction from concrete and reinforcing steel during production. The project will be environmentally certified according to Miljöbyggnad, level Silver.

Preparatory work is underway and construction is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2024. The houses are to be completed in the spring of 2027.
