E-mobility in Lower Franconia: W&P expands fleet with 20 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 and opens charging park with 56 charging points

(IN BRIEF) Spedition W&P, a transport company in Bavaria, has expanded its fleet with 20 new Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks, marking a significant move toward sustainable freight transport. This expansion is supported by W&P’s newly opened charging park, equipped with 56 DC rapid charging points powered by its own photovoltaic system. The eActros 600’s impressive 500-kilometer range, along with its advanced infrastructure, showcases W&P’s commitment to e-mobility. Mercedes-Benz Trucks continues to play a vital role in the transformation of the transport industry, helping W&P transition to electric vehicles while supporting the development of essential charging infrastructure. Daimler Truck’s TruckCharge initiative aims to expand the availability of charging stations across Europe, further accelerating the adoption of electric transport.

(PRESS RELEASE) LEINFELDEN-ECHTERDINGEN/ PRICHSENSTADT, 26-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Mercedes-Benz Trucks has announced a significant step forward in its partnership with Spedition W&P, a transport company based in Prichsenstadt, Bavaria. The freight forwarder has expanded its fleet with 20 new Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, the flagship electric truck from Mercedes-Benz. This expansion complements the opening of W&P’s state-of-the-art charging park, marking a milestone in the drive for CO2-free road freight transport in the region. Christian Wilz, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-Benz Trucks & FUSO Germany, expressed his enthusiasm for the continued partnership, noting, “We are thrilled that Spedition W&P is extending its collaboration with us and taking this crucial step toward a more sustainable future in road freight transport.”

W&P’s decision to invest in the eActros 600 fleet, which boasts an impressive range of 500 kilometers without the need for intermediate charging, underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable logistics. The company already operates three Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 trucks, covering routes of up to 480 kilometers daily, and the new eActros 600 vehicles will further enhance their capabilities. The eActros 600’s holistic concept, which includes not just the vehicle but the supporting infrastructure, made it the clear choice for W&P, according to Managing Director Alexander Wehr. He added, “The eActros 600 impressed us immediately with its performance and efficiency, and we are excited to be part of the future of electric freight transport.”

In addition to expanding its fleet, W&P has also taken a pioneering step by opening its own charging park at its Prichsenstadt facility. Equipped with 56 DC rapid charging points, the charging park is powered by W&P’s photovoltaic system and features a 15,000 kWh battery storage system. The park also includes facilities for truck drivers, such as toilets, showers, and waiting areas. Mercedes-Benz Trucks played a crucial role in the establishment of the charging infrastructure, supporting W&P with both vehicle procurement and the design and implementation of the charging network.

The eActros 600, launched in late 2024, has already proven its performance through extensive testing, including a 15,000-kilometer European tour and a winter testing program in Northern Europe. With a gross combination mass of up to 40 tons, the eActros 600 can cover more than 1,000 kilometers a day when charged during driver breaks. The truck is equipped with a 621 kWh battery and employs lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell technology, which ensures both long-lasting power and high efficiency.

Daimler Truck’s TruckCharge initiative also plays a key role in accelerating the shift to electric transport, offering a comprehensive package for e-infrastructure, including charging stations, energy generation, and vehicle operation. As part of this initiative, Daimler Truck is working to expand the network of charging points across Europe, with a goal of having more than 3,000 fast charging points by 2030. This is expected to complement the services offered by Milence, a joint venture focused on public charging infrastructure.
