(IN BRIEF) Deutsche Telekom has partnered with Google to develop a global standard for transferring eSIMs between mobile devices. Deutsche Telekom is the first mobile communications company to use this standard for transferring eSIMs, allowing customers to transfer their mobile contract to their new device securely and immediately with just a few clicks directly in the setup wizard. The process takes place on the device within seconds, and there is no need for an app, logging into a website, or calling customer service. The eSIM transfer capability will become available on the Android platform later this year.

(PRESS RELEASE) BONN, 1-Mar-2023 — /EuropaWire/ —  Deutsche Telekom (ETR: DTE), one of the world’s leading integrated telecommunications companies and the largest telecommunications provider in Europe by revenue, is committed to providing its customers with innovative and practical solutions in the mobile world. With over 40% of our new customers choosing eSIM, we recognized the need for a more streamlined process to transfer mobile contracts from old to new devices. Working closely with Google, we helped develop the global standard together with GSMA for transferring eSIMs between mobile devices, and we are proud to be the first mobile communications company in the world to use this standard.

Our new process allows customers to transfer their mobile contract to their new device securely and immediately with just a few clicks directly in the setup wizard. The transfer takes place on the device within seconds, and there is no need for an app, logging into a website, or calling customer service.

Deutsche Telekom has partnered closely with Google’s Android team and device manufacturers to offer our customers a secure, reliable, and seamless experience on eSIM. We are also the first carrier globally to offer the ability to transfer an eSIM profile from one phone to another based on GSMA TS.43 standards.

This feature will allow customers to switch seamlessly to their new Android device upon setup, without having to wait for a physical SIM or contact carrier support. Owners of a Pixel 7 will be the first to benefit from this experience on the DT network, available later this year. The eSIM transfer capability will become available on the Android platform later this year, allowing other manufacturers to take advantage of the standard and offer the same service to their customers.

Deutsche Telekom is committed to providing its customers with the latest technology and the best possible user experience. With our new eSIM transfer process, we’re making it easier for our customers to switch to new devices and enjoy the benefits of eSIM technology.
