(PRESS RELEASE) VIENNA, 8-Oct-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — On October 7, 2024, Wienerberger, a prominent provider of innovative and ecological solutions for the construction industry, announced its strategic expansion in the Nordic market by acquiring Finnish Slatek OY and Norwegian Tekken AS. These acquisitions will significantly enhance Wienerberger’s offerings in smart water management and infrastructure solutions, contributing approximately €10 million in revenue to its operations.

Heimo Scheuch, CEO of Wienerberger, stated, “The Nordic region presents an attractive investment landscape, characterized by high disposable incomes, stable business environments, and ambitious ESG commitments. With these acquisitions, Wienerberger is advancing its value-driven growth strategy while simultaneously making meaningful contributions to sustainability in water management and infrastructure. We are also integrating innovative digital solutions that will first be piloted in Northern Europe before a broader rollout in additional markets.”

Slatek OY, a family-owned business based in Oulu, Finland, is recognized for its premium smart automation solutions for water utilities, boasting a strong reputation in the sector since the 1980s. Their full-service offerings include operational automation, design, electrical engineering, cabinet assembly, and software programming for both water and sewage utilities. This acquisition will significantly enhance Wienerberger’s presence in the public water management sector in Finland, unlocking potential cross-selling opportunities with its smart solutions platform.

Meanwhile, the acquisition of Tekken AS bolsters Wienerberger’s position in Norway’s pumping station solutions segment. Tekken specializes in both prefabricated and custom-built pumping stations, as well as prefabricated water assets like PE chambers, sludge separators, and tank solutions. This move aligns with Wienerberger’s goal of expanding its footprint as a comprehensive solution provider in the water infrastructure market, further complementing its existing offerings from the QPS acquisition in 2022. The integration of the two teams is expected to accelerate growth and enhance customer service.

The transactions were finalized at the beginning of October 2024, with the purchase prices remaining confidential.
