(IN BRIEF) trinamiX GmbH has expanded its mobile NIR spectroscopy solution to include new applications for the footwear and textile industries, addressing the growing need for accurate material identification in complex products. The technology enables rapid, on-site detection of materials such as EVA, polyester, and polyurethane in footwear, as well as blended textile compositions like cotton/polyester and viscose/polyester, including fiber ratio analysis. Designed as a handheld system combined with a mobile app and cloud platform, the solution supports quality control, sorting, and recycling processes while improving transparency and traceability across value chains. With the textile application launching in May 2026, the solution also integrates with digital systems to support regulatory compliance and sustainability initiatives such as Digital Product Passports. Overall, trinamiX’s innovation contributes to advancing circular economy strategies by enhancing recycling efficiency and reducing material waste.

(PRESS RELEASE) LUDWIGSHAFEN, 28-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — trinamiX GmbH has broadened the application scope of its mobile near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy solution, introducing new capabilities tailored to the footwear and textile industries. The development strengthens the company’s role in enabling circular economy practices by improving material transparency across increasingly complex value chains.

As modern footwear and textile products are composed of intricate blends of polymers, foams, and fabrics, traditional visual inspection methods are no longer sufficient to determine material composition. At the same time, tightening regulatory requirements and sustainability goals are increasing the need for accurate and traceable material identification.

To address these challenges, trinamiX’s mobile NIR spectroscopy solution allows users to identify materials quickly and reliably on site. In the footwear sector, the technology can detect commonly used materials such as EVA, polyester, and polyurethane within seconds. This enables more efficient incoming goods inspection, supports production quality control, and enhances sorting and recycling processes by reducing contamination and manual effort.

In the textile industry, the solution tackles the complexities of blended fabrics, which are often difficult to separate and recycle. It enables the identification of materials such as cotton/polyester and viscose/polyester blends, and for binary blends, it can determine fiber composition ratios as percentages. This capability supports more accurate sorting, validation of material declarations, and improved recycling outcomes. The textile-focused application is scheduled to become available from May 2026.

The system combines a handheld spectrometer, a mobile application, and a cloud-based data platform. The trinamiX PAL Two device performs rapid, non-destructive measurements even in industrial environments, while the mobile app guides users through the process and provides immediate results. Data can then be securely stored, visualized, and analyzed through a connected platform, ensuring traceability and consistency across locations.

In addition, the solution can be integrated into existing digital systems via APIs, supporting further data processing in line with regulatory initiatives such as Digital Product Passports and sustainability reporting frameworks.

By enabling accurate material identification across the value chain, trinamiX aims to help companies improve recycling efficiency, reduce material waste, and support the development of closed-loop systems. The expanded solution portfolio positions the company to better serve manufacturers, recyclers, and brands working toward more sustainable and transparent production models.
