(PRESS RELEASE) SOLNA, 20-Feb-2023 — /EuropaWire/ —  AFRY (STO: AF-B), Swedish-Finnish engineering, consulting and design company active in energy, industry, infrastructure and IT,  announces that it has been commissioned to support Stockholm Public Transport (SL) and the Public Transport Administration (Trafikförvaltningen) with a range of systems for managing traffic information for travellers. The four-year contract, which begins in February 2023, includes an option for a further two plus two years and covers support and maintenance for the Public Transport Administration’s IT system.

The traffic information systems managed by AFRY will provide critical information to public transport passengers about current traffic conditions, including timetables, driving times, disruptions, and other important updates. The information is managed on the web, in apps, outside signs at stops and stations, and in a range of support systems. AFRY’s responsibilities will involve developing, managing, and maintaining readiness for a variety of traffic information systems at the Public Transport Administration.

“Public transport is an important part of the transition towards a more sustainable society. With high quality and good service, more people can choose public transport and avoid car journeys. We are very happy to be able to contribute to that transition”, says Jens Andersson, Head of Sales Public IT, AFRY X.

The contract with AFRY is part of the Public Transport Administration’s ongoing effort to improve traffic information systems for public transport passengers. The project aims to provide commuters with relevant and timely information to ensure a seamless and hassle-free travel experience.

“The traffic information is absolutely crucial for so many people, every day. SL has high ambitions when it comes to service to our travelers and traffic contractors in Stockholm. I look forward to a close collaboration with AFRY in order to operate and develop the simple and sustainable mode of transport we all desire, and I see clear synergy effects in gathering that delivery to one supplier”, says Björn Ehlert, Group Manager IT department, Trafikförvaltningen.

AFRY collaborates with Formpipe in this assignment.
