Skanska Awarded $630M Contract for Sustainable Hillview Reservoir Project in Yonkers

(IN BRIEF) Skanska, in partnership with ECCO III Enterprises, Inc., has been awarded a USD 848 million contract by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection for the Hillview Reservoir Chemical Addition Facilities project in Yonkers, New York. Skanska’s share of the contract is valued at USD 630 million. The project includes upgrades to the North Entrance, construction of two new Chemical Addition Facilities, and installation of new electrical and monitoring systems. The project aims for LEED v4.1 certification, emphasizing sustainability. Construction began in August 2024, with expected completion in April 2030.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 23-Sep-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska, in partnership with ECCO III Enterprises, Inc., has signed a contract with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) to undertake the Hillview Reservoir Chemical Addition Facilities Construction project in Yonkers, New York. This initiative, mandated by the Hillview Reservoir Consent Decree and Judgment, carries a total value of USD 848 million, with Skanska’s 75% share amounting to USD 630 million (approximately SEK 6.6 billion). The project will be included in Skanska’s US order bookings for Q3 2024.

The scope of work includes significant upgrades to the reservoir’s North Entrance and the construction of two new Chemical Addition Facilities. Additional components include the installation of two electrical service feeds, new distribution equipment, and a state-of-the-art Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. Temporary chemical systems and water monitoring structures will also be implemented, ensuring the uninterrupted function of water supply during the construction process for the local community.

In line with sustainable building practices, the project aims to achieve LEED v4.1 certification, incorporating environmentally friendly methods related to energy conservation, indoor air quality, and resource efficiency.

Construction began in August 2024 and is expected to be completed by April 2030.
