Skanska Expands Hyperscale Data Center Project in Norway with Additional NOK 569M Contract

(IN BRIEF) Skanska has entered a NOK 569 million contract with WS Computing AS to construct the core and shell of a hyperscale data center in Skien, Norway. This deal builds on an earlier NOK 1.1 billion contract, bringing the total project value to NOK 1.7 billion. (PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 16-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska has secured a new contract with WS Computing AS to construct the core and shell of a cutting-edge data center facility in Gromstul, located within Norway’s Skien municipality. The agreement, valued at NOK 569 million (approximately SEK 560 million), will be added to Skanska’s Nordic order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2024.

This project focuses on building the essential framework for a hyperscale data center. The scope of work includes creating the external structure, incorporating wall cladding, windows, doors, roof coverings, and security features such as fencing. Additional ancillary buildings will also be developed as part of the project.

Notably, Skanska had already signed an earlier contract for this initiative earlier in the year, valued at NOK 1.1 billion. With the inclusion of this latest agreement, the total contract value has risen to approximately NOK 1.7 billion (around SEK 1.6 billion).

Construction activities are set to begin immediately, with the project slated for completion by December 2025.
