SEAT becomes the first automaker to join the urban mobility hub Madrid in Motion

(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 27-Jan-2020 — /EuropaWire/ — SEAT, a member of Volkwagen group, to work with Madrid in Motion on addressing the challenges of urban mobility.

Madrid in Motion is a multi-sector, public-private open innovation hub that gathers businesses, public administrators, and startups around the world. It aims to solve the urban mobility challenge by generating collaborative and innovative solutions.

SEAT Head of Urban Mobility and General Manager of Respiro, SEAT’s car-sharing company, Lucas Casasnovas pointed out that “this is the age of collaboration; we must be agile and disruptive in our way of working and initiatives such as Madrid in Motion provides us with the ideal platform to pool efforts and creativity with startups, businesses and public administrations so that we can all create sustainable urban mobility together.”

An ecosystem that generates collective and innovative solutions to mobility challenges, integrating key players, promoting collaboration among them, and placing society at the centre,” said Paz López, the director of Madrid in Motion. “And SEAT is a key player in this Madrid in Motion ecosystem, as it is a leader in the automotive sector that is committed to mobility with advanced models. Furthermore, the company provides the Hub with a new perspective from one of the most relevant industries in the future mobility market.”

Together with Madrid City Council and Municipal Transport Company in Madrid (Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid), Madrid in Motion works on their initiative to come up to a more sustainable plan which will create a global impact.

The initiative involves institutions, organizations, leading companies, startups and experts teaming up to develop innovations that generate solutions that will be valuable to the society. In this collaboration, SEAT is the first and only car manufacturer that participates in this initiative.

To further the SEAT’s 4.0 transformation, the carmaker promotes open innovation. The constant participation in various multi-sector initiatives, such as Madrid in Motion or Start4big, gives an opportunity for SEAT to find the best startups that have the potential to develop transformational solutions.
