(PRESS RELEASE) MARTORELL, 5-May-2021 — /EuropaWire/ — The SEAT S.A. Apprentice School announces the registration period for the 21-22 academic year is open until 31 May. 74 talented young people will be able to begin their studies in one of its 4 advanced degree cycles. This training aims to qualify students for their incorporation into the labour market and make them the driving force behind the transformation of the automotive sector. An open-ended contract with SEAT S.A. awaits all students who successfully complete these studies, making the School a gateway to employability for young people and a key source of talent for the company.

The SEAT S.A. Apprentice School provides advanced degree courses under the German Dual Training model, a system that narrows the gap between classroom teaching and the practical experience needed by companies. This training has been adapted year after year to incorporate the development of skills linked to digitalisation and new technologies. Students complete almost 5,000 learning hours, which is double the average for other training cycles in Spain, divided between theory and hands-on learning. Practical experience is provided from day one, with financial remuneration, both in the workshops located in the classrooms and at SEAT S.A.’s three production centres in Martorell, Barcelona and El Prat.

“With more than 60 years of history, the Apprentice School represents SEAT S.A.’s constant commitment to the future of the automotive industry. Through the School, we create a pool of highly-specialised new generations and boost their future employability, with training adapted to the needs of a sector undergoing rapid transformation” says Xavier Ros, Executive Vice-president for Human Resources and Organisation at SEAT S.A.

Registration for the upcoming academic year is now open for its four advanced dual vocational training cycles: Industrial Automation and Robotics, Industrial Mechatronics, Production Programming in Mechanical Manufacturing, and Automotives. The 74 available slots are open to young people between the ages of 18 and 21. As in the last edition, and due to the situation generated by the pandemic, the selection process of the candidates will be carried out with the evaluation of competencies via videoconference. The open day for the new course, which is scheduled for 12 May, will also be held in a virtual format. Candidates will visit the facilities and learn what they can expect from these studies in an informative video, and afterwards, teachers from the School, as well as alumni, students and professionals from SEAT S.A., will answer their questions online.

Training adapted to the current environment

The SEAT S.A. Apprentice School aims to respond to the major challenges that the new generations will encounter in the workplace and to prepare them for the future. For this reason, it embraces new methodologies in education in order to adapt to the digitalisation of the future working environment and the transformation towards the electric car. In this regard, last year the School launched a Smart Factory workshop, which simulates an interconnected smart factory. Here you can experience how Industry 4.0 works and learn how connectivity, communication between different technologies, robots and data help to improve all processes. Another example of innovation in the School’s programmes is the CodeLearn system, which teaches students different programming languages naturally through gamification.

The SEAT S.A. Apprentice School is yet another example of the company’s firm commitment to the training and employability of young people. More than 2,800 students have received training at the school since it was founded in 1957, and 167 people are currently studying there. In addition, for several years SEAT S.A. has been promoting various training programmes for the professional growth of its more than 15,000 employees, with the aim of preparing them for the challenges of the future. In 2020, SEAT invested 27.5 million euros in training (+19.6% more than in 2019).
