CUPRA expands team to achieve EUR one billion turnover — appoints Wayne Griffiths as Chairman of the Board

(PRESS RELEASE) MARTORELL, 2-Mar-2020 — /EuropaWire/ — Wayne Griffiths has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of CUPRA. The appointment expands Griffiths’ responsibility as SEAT Executive Vice-President for Sales and Marketing and CUPRA Chief Executive Officer.

CUPRA Board of Directors is completed with Carsten Isensee, acting SEAT President and SEAT Executive Vice-President for Finance and IT; Axel Andorff, SEAT Executive Vice-President for Research and Development and Luis Comas, SEAT Vice-President for Legal Affairs and Governance.

Griffiths starts as the brand’s top executive following the inauguration of its new corporate headquarters, the CUPRA Garage, and the announcement of a product offensive with the aim of reaching one billion euros in turnover when the full range is available.

A successful career in the Volkswagen Group

Griffiths started his career at Audi AG in Ingolstadt in 1989, after which he spent two years (1991-1993) in SEAT. Then he returned to Audi AG and held several senior positions in the new sales division in various markets. In 2016 he was appointed SEAT Vice-President for Sales and Marketing and in January 2019 he took up the position of CUPRA CEO.

The CUPRA Tribe keeps growing

Griffiths expanded the CUPRA management team, for the new stage of the brand. The team has been joined by the brand’s new Chief Technical Officer, Marta Almuni, in addition to Antonino Labate, director of Strategy, Business Development and Operations, and Jaime Puig, director of CUPRA Racing.

Furthermore, CUPRA will also have new incorporations with Antonio Vidal Tost as Head of Sales; Carlos Galindo, Head of Product; and Ignacio Prieto, Head of Marketing. Khaled Soussi will now occupy the position of Head of Dealer Network Development and Customer Experience. Xavier Serra, Head of Technical Development of CUPRA Racing, completes the team.

Along with the rest of the Design team, led by Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, Francesca Sangalli, Head of Color & Trim Concept & Strategy, will collaborate on the CUPRA’s projects.

CUPRA will have enough space to accommodate up to 200 professionals with the inauguration of CUPRA Garage, a 2,400 square meter eco-efficient building whose design evokes a racing paddock. In addition to opening its new facilities, the brand is also renovating the CUPRA Racing Factory, its racing car workshop, which served as the backdrop for the premiere of the CUPRA Leon.
