Science Based Targets Initiative Confirms Husqvarna Group Climate Goals Align with Net-Zero Standards

(IN BRIEF) Husqvarna Group has secured validation from the Science Based Targets initiative for its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, confirming alignment with recognized net-zero criteria. The company has committed to achieving net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2050 while targeting a 60.28 percent reduction in absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2030 and a 90 percent reduction by 2050 compared with 2015 levels. Husqvarna Group said the validated targets will support its long-term sustainability strategy, strengthen transparency with stakeholders, and provide a science-based framework for reducing emissions throughout its operations and supply chain.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 12-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Husqvarna Group has received validation from the Science Based Targets initiative for its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, confirming that the company’s climate strategy aligns with internationally recognized net-zero standards.

The validation covers both the company’s updated near-term emissions reduction targets and its long-term net-zero commitment, spanning Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain. According to the approved targets, Husqvarna Group has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its operations and value chain by 2050.

As part of the commitment, the company aims to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 60.28 percent by 2030 and by 90 percent by 2050 compared with a 2015 baseline year. The targets include emissions generated directly through Husqvarna Group’s own operations, indirect emissions associated with purchased energy, and emissions generated throughout the broader value chain, which represent the largest share of the company’s overall climate footprint.

Glen Instone described the validation as an important confirmation that the company’s climate ambitions meet the Science Based Targets initiative’s criteria for both credibility and ambition. He said sustainability remains a core strategic priority for Husqvarna Group and that the validated targets provide a science-based roadmap for reducing emissions across the company’s global operations and supplier network.

The Science Based Targets initiative is widely used by corporations and financial institutions seeking to align emissions reduction strategies with climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement. Validation through the initiative indicates that a company’s emissions reduction pathway is consistent with limiting global temperature increases in line with internationally recognized climate objectives.

For Husqvarna Group, the validated targets are intended to guide long-term sustainability efforts while also supporting broader business strategy and operational planning. The company stated that the framework will help strengthen transparency for customers, investors, and other stakeholders regarding its ongoing climate transition efforts and emissions reduction progress.

The validation also reflects the growing importance of supply chain emissions management within industrial manufacturing sectors, where Scope 3 emissions linked to suppliers, logistics, product use, and downstream activities often account for the majority of total greenhouse gas output.

Husqvarna Group said additional details relating to the methodology, target scope, baseline assumptions, and progress tracking are outlined in the company’s annual reporting and sustainability disclosures.
