Radio Holland to serve growing number of ship owners calling at Brazil’s southern ports with 3rd operating base in Rio Grande

ROTTERDAM, 14-Jun-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Radio Holland has created a third operating base in Brazil, Rio Grande, to serve a growing number of local customers and international ship owners calling at Brazil’s southern ports. From Rio Grande Radio Holland also provides services in Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina. Radio Holland already had offices in place in Rio de Janeiro and Santos.

Radio Holland has been present in Brazil for over three years, headquartered in Santos, Brazil’s largest port. In the region Radio Holland also has offices in Curaçao, Panama and Trinidad. Experienced Technicians and Radio Surveyors stationed in Rio Grande perform radio surveys, VDR APTs, gyroscope overhauls and radar services, as well as servicing and installing a wide range of Nav/Com equipment.

Jan van Iersel, General Manager Brazil comments: “Many Asian and US carriers call into Rio Grande. It is an important port for soya, containers, wood, paper and other commodities. As Radio Holland has worldwide service agreements with ship owners, there is a growing demand for service support in the Rio Grande area.”

Technicians and spare parts on the spot

Rio Grande is a difficult area to reach and service companies have not had any presence there until now. Customers needing service or surveys in Rio Grande would have to bring their technicians from Rio de Janeiro and Santos. “This is quite an undertaking, as Brazil is a huge country. Now we have our technicians on the spot and spare parts and equipment stored there, we can respond quickly to service requests, as well as being much more cost efficient for the customer.”

“In addition to international customers, Brazilian ship owners are approaching us for support. Classification societies have also welcomed the move, as there is now a service company on the spot to carry out radio inspections and surveys. I am optimistic about the prospects in Brazil, given its enormous resources.  Every week we are receiving requests from new customers. Radio Holland is the largest, independent service supplier around and we are building long-term relationships in Brazil.”
