Microsoft Azure now available at Swisscom cloud portfolio for SMEs

(PRESS RELEASE) BERN, 31-Aug-2020 — /EuropaWire/ — Swisscom (SWX: SCMN), a major telecommunications provider in Switzerland majority owned by the Swiss Government, has announced it has added Microsoft Azure to its cloud portfolio for SMEs. The addition will be particularly beneficial to companies such as architectural firms or engineering offices, which rely on resource-intensive applications and have very specific needs. The product will be sold through local Swisscom partners and includes Microsoft Premier Support as standard.

With its detailed construction plans, interactive elements and 3D models, CAD software is a vital but resource-intensive tool, especially in the construction industry and other fields where design plays a central role. Depending on project size and complexity, the processing power and storage capacity requirements can quickly become too much for a company’s own servers. With Microsoft Azure, Swisscom is now offering an ideal cloud solution for these companies, which also supports mobile working and delivers the required capacities on a flexible basis, thus eliminating the need for costly internal IT infrastructure investments. Operation and maintenance are the responsibility of experts at the cloud provider. Microsoft Azure also caters to individual needs of Swisscom SME customers in the areas of IoT and machine learning.

Triple expertise
Swisscom’s corporate customers are already benefiting from Microsoft Azure. Now, it is also being offered and tailored specifically to SMEs. The product is being sold through local Swisscom partners, who act as a contact person for the customer, establishing the interface with Swisscom and Microsoft. The customers therefore benefit from the expertise and competence of both the Microsoft and Swisscom experts as well as the local service of the Swisscom partner. Microsoft Premier Support is also included, which means that any support requests which the local partner is unable to resolve will be forwarded directly to the contact person at Swisscom or Microsoft and treated as a priority.
