(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 16-Jan-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Henkel has signed an agreement to acquire ATP Adhesive Systems, a Switzerland-based specialist in high-performance water-based specialty tapes, as part of its strategy to further strengthen its Adhesive Technologies business unit and expand beyond traditional liquid adhesive solutions. The acquisition broadens Henkel’s portfolio with complementary bonding technologies tailored to fast-growing and dynamic end markets.

ATP Adhesive Systems is a leading expert in high-performance water-based specialty tapes

ATP Adhesive Systems is recognized as an innovative player in water-based specialty tapes serving a wide range of industries, including automotive, electronics, medical technology, building and construction, and graphics. The company operates production and development sites in Europe and North America, employs around 700 people, and is expected to generate approximately €270 million in sales in the 2025 fiscal year.

With this transaction, Henkel significantly enhances its presence in the tapes segment by adding a portfolio that is highly complementary to its existing adhesive offerings. More than 90 percent of ATP Adhesive Systems’ products are based on water-based technologies, supporting Henkel’s sustainability ambitions through solutions with a low carbon footprint and reduced volatile organic compound emissions.

Beyond water-based specialty tapes, the acquisition also provides Henkel with access to advanced technological expertise in hotmelt and solvent-based polymer tapes. These capabilities further expand Henkel’s bonding solutions portfolio and strengthen its position as a comprehensive solution provider for customers seeking innovative, application-specific adhesive technologies.

The transaction marks a strategic step in Henkel’s ambition to evolve its Adhesive Technologies business into a broader bonding solutions platform. By combining liquid adhesives with tape-based technologies, Henkel aims to deliver additional value to customers, accelerate innovation, and address evolving performance and sustainability requirements across multiple industries.

ATP Adhesive Systems’ state-of-the-art production facilities and strong innovation capabilities are expected to support above-market growth in the specialty tapes segment, which is increasingly driven by demand for more sustainable, high-performance alternatives. The acquisition aligns with Henkel’s long-term growth agenda and reinforces its focus on value-creating portfolio expansion through targeted mergers and acquisitions.

The completion of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial terms of the agreement.
