Henkel Introduces Sustainable Adhesive Solution for Heavy Equipment with Improved Performance and Lower Emissions

Enhanced silane modified polymer adhesive sealants can be used for many applications, including window glazing for cabins, side paneling and bonding of roof skin for vehicles, as well as seam and joint sealing.

(IN BRIEF) Henkel has launched Teroson MS 9381 HPT, a new sustainable adhesive sealant designed for heavy equipment and vehicle applications. The product eliminates hazardous substances such as tin, solvents, and isocyanates while offering improved performance and simplified application through a primeless, single-component process. Its multi-substrate compatibility and UV resistance make it suitable for a wide range of uses, while its high initial tack and thixotropic properties enhance efficiency and reduce errors. The adhesive also delivers environmental benefits, with the potential to reduce carbon emissions by up to 50 percent compared to traditional polyurethane solutions. The launch supports Henkel’s broader sustainability strategy and responds to growing industry demands for safer, more efficient, and environmentally responsible materials.

(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 8-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Henkel is expanding its portfolio of sustainable adhesive sealants with the introduction of Teroson MS 9381 HPT, a new solution designed for heavy equipment and vehicle applications that combines high performance with enhanced environmental compliance.

Developed to meet increasingly stringent regulatory standards, Teroson MS 9381 HPT is formulated without tin, solvents, isocyanates, silicones, or PVC. The product offers a simplified and efficient alternative to traditional materials, while maintaining durability and reliability across a wide range of applications. Its UV-resistant properties and compatibility with multiple substrates make it suitable for tasks such as cabin window glazing, side panel assembly, roof bonding, and sealing of seams and joints.

Leandro Pedro, Global Head of Market Strategy – Core and Value Segments at Henkel, emphasized that the development reflects the company’s broader commitment to sustainability through its “Respect the Planet, Rethink Design” initiative. He noted that manufacturers in the heavy equipment sector face growing demands for improved efficiency, stricter safety requirements, and ambitious environmental targets. The new adhesive is intended to address these challenges by delivering a solution that enhances performance while simplifying processes and reducing risks.

Teroson MS 9381 HPT is based on a single-component, moisture-curing silane-modified polymer (SMP) technology, enabling a primeless application process. This reduces the number of required steps compared to conventional polyurethane adhesives, streamlining production workflows and minimizing the potential for application errors. Its high thixotropy and strong initial tack further improve handling and placement, supporting consistent results and increased operational efficiency.

The product also offers operational advantages beyond application performance. By enabling multiple uses with a single material, it helps manufacturers reduce complexity in supply chains and inventory management, contributing to lower overall costs.

Sustainability is a central feature of the new adhesive. By eliminating substances of very high concern, the formulation enhances workplace safety while supporting compliance with environmental standards. According to data generated using Henkel’s Environmental Assessment Reporting Tool (HEART), the product can potentially reduce carbon emissions by up to 50 percent compared to traditional polyurethane processes, measured from raw material sourcing through production and logistics.

Through the introduction of Teroson MS 9381 HPT, Henkel continues to advance solutions that align performance, safety, and environmental responsibility, supporting the heavy equipment and vehicle industries in their transition toward more sustainable manufacturing practices.
