GRAHAM Construction’s Works at the Tennison Road Bridge Replacement Project reached another milestone with the delivery of the steel bridge sections to site

Project milestone reached with the arrival of 300t steel bridge to Tennison Road.

LONDON, 6-11-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Works at the Tennison Road Bridge Replacement Project reached another significant milestone this week with the delivery of the steel bridge sections from the fabrication workshop to site.

The 55m long 300t plate girder steel bridge is being delivered to site via abnormal loads in 6 main sections with numerous more vehicles transporting the remainder of the steelwork from as far as Bolton and Sheffield.

The delivery of the steel bridge is the accumulation of 10 months of design and fabrication works involving permanent and temporary works designers, third party checkers, workshop and paintshop inspections, highly qualified welders and fabricators and specialist inspectors.

Using a 750t mobile telescopic crane, assembly of the steel bridge will take place over the next 4 weeks onto an already assembled complex temporary works steel frame, which will be used to launch the bridge over the 10 Network Rail lines.

Setup of the crane and assembly of the bridge are taking place in accordance with strict Network Rail procedures to ensure that the operational railway and the Selhurst train depot are not affected.

To coincide with the bridge launch others associated works onsite are progressing including reinforced concrete works, precast concrete beam installation, contiguous piled approach walls, concrete parapet fabrication, and bearing installation.

The next major milestone on the project will involve launching the 55m bridge over the railway during December.
