MADRID, 01-Nov-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — The Board of Directors of Ferrovial today appointed Alejandro de la Joya and Ignacio Gastón as CEOs of Cintra and Ferrovial Agroman, respectively. The two appointments are the result of Enrique Díaz-Rato stepping down as CEO of Cintra as part of the company’s succession plans. The three executives will work together over the next two months to ensure a smooth transition.

Both Alejandro de la Joya and Ignacio Gastón have spent the bulk of their career in Ferrovial and have a proven international track record in the industry. Alejandro de la Joya (Madrid, 1967) has been CEO of Ferrovial Agroman to date. A civil engineer, he joined Ferrovial in 1991 and has worked in Spain, Morocco, Italy, Portugal and Poland. He was Director of International Construction from 2005 to 2008, when he was appointed CEO of Ferrovial Agroman. Ignacio Gastón (Logroño, 1970) was formerly General Manager of Ferrovial Services Spain. A civil engineer with an MBA from London Business School, he joined Ferrovial Agroman in 1995, transferred to Amey in 2003, and was appointed Director of Construction in the UK in 2007.

Enrique Díaz-Rato has been CEO of Cintra since 2006, a period in which the company has expanded into the United States, principally, and other markets. A civil engineer, he holds a degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Management from EOI; he joined Ferrovial in 2000 as general manager of Cintra in Chile and was subsequently appointed Chairman and CEO of 407 ETR in Toronto.

“Enrique Díaz-Rato’s withdrawal is part of the company’s succession plans. He steered Cintra to become a world leader in the toll road business in terms of both asset value and quality of service to clients, characterized by the search for new solutions. Under his leadership, the company consolidated 407 and expanded into the United States and other markets. Both Alejandro and Ignacio are professionals who have developed in-house, having proven their capacity and commitment in all the positions they have held in Ferrovial, as I am convinced they will continue to do as chief executives of Cintra and Ferrovial Agroman,” said Íñigo Meiras, CEO of Ferrovial.
