Ericsson Unveils 5G and FRMCS Solutions for Railways at InnoTrans 2024
(IN BRIEF) At InnoTrans 2024, Ericsson will showcase its 5G and Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) solutions aimed at improving rail safety, efficiency, and the passenger experience. The 5G Corridors will provide high-speed connectivity for passengers, while FRMCS will enable secure, real-time data exchange between trains and operators. Ericsson will highlight how these technologies can modernize rail communications and enhance railway operations globally. The event is expected to attract over 130,000 visitors and feature more than 2,700 exhibitors.
(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 11-Sep-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Ericsson is set to present its cutting-edge Mission Critical Communications solutions for the rail industry at InnoTrans 2024, the leading global transport technology fair in Berlin from September 24 to 27. Under the theme “5G for rail communications,” Ericsson will highlight its 5G Corridors and Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) technologies, designed to enhance rail safety, efficiency, and passenger experience.
The 5G Corridors enable high-speed connectivity for passengers, allowing real-time communication, infotainment, and seamless travel updates. Meanwhile, FRMCS, a next-generation communication system replacing the aging GSM-R technology, facilitates secure, real-time data exchange between trains and railway operators, improving operational safety.
Ericsson’s Head of Mission Critical, Magnus Packendorff, emphasized the transformative potential of 5G and FRMCS in modernizing rail communications. With a significant presence at InnoTrans, Ericsson aims to engage with railway companies and operators, showcasing the role of advanced connectivity in shaping the future of rail transport.
InnoTrans 2024 is expected to attract over 130,000 visitors and feature more than 2,700 exhibitors showcasing the latest innovations in the transport industry. Visitors can explore Ericsson’s demonstrations and engage with experts in Hall 4.1, Booth 710.
