Encavis acquires turnkey 34 MW wind project from PNE AG to power over 22,000 households

(IN BRIEF) PNE AG has sold its under-construction Sundern-Allendorf wind farm in Sauerland to Encavis AG. The 34 MW project, featuring five 6.8 MW turbines, will supply around 22,800 households with renewable electricity once operational in the first half of 2026. PNE will deliver the facility as a turnkey solution, highlighting its expertise in developing and constructing premium wind projects. Encavis CEO Mario Schirru emphasized the acquisition’s role in strengthening the company’s wind portfolio, which has grown by 160 MW in Germany over the past ten months. Both companies expressed interest in continuing their collaboration to expand renewable energy capacity.

(PRESS RELEASE) CUXHAVEN, 8-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — PNE AG has announced the sale of its Sundern-Allendorf wind farm project in the Sauerland region to Hamburg-based Encavis AG. Currently under construction, the facility comprises five wind turbines with a total output of 34 megawatts, generating enough clean energy to supply approximately 22,800 households. The project will be delivered to Encavis as a turnkey solution, with operations expected to begin in the first half of 2026.

“We are pleased to hand this high-quality project over to Encavis, a company that shares our commitment to expanding renewable energy,” said Roland Stanze, Chief Operating Officer of PNE AG. “This wind farm reflects our decades of expertise in developing, financing, and constructing premium renewable energy projects. Looking ahead, we see opportunities for integrating storage solutions and power-to-X technologies to further enhance the flexibility of renewable energy supply.”

Encavis AG views the acquisition as a continuation of its growth strategy. Mario Schirru, CEO of Encavis AG, stated: “By acquiring the Sundern-Allendorf wind farm, we are strengthening our wind energy portfolio and moving towards a balanced mix of wind and solar. Over the last ten months, we have added about 160 MW of wind capacity within Germany, bringing wind’s share of our total domestic generation portfolio to roughly 45%. The quality of this project and PNE’s proven development expertise underline the value of our collaboration, which we are eager to continue in the future.”

PNE received the construction permit for the five turbines, each with a capacity of 6.8 MW, from the Hochsauerland district in June 2023, with construction starting in August 2024. Upon completion, Encavis will operate the wind farm, adding to its diverse European portfolio of onshore wind, solar, and battery storage projects totaling more than 3.8 gigawatts of installed capacity.
