Borusan EnBW Enerji successfully concluded two further onshore projects: the Koru and Harmanlik onshore wind farms in Turkey each with 50 megawatts output

The renewable portfolio of this German-Turkish joint venture comprises 287 megawatts

Karlsruhe, 1-6-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — The German-Turkish joint venture Borusan EnBW Enerji, in which the partners Borusan and EnBW each hold a 50 percent stake, has successfully concluded two further onshore projects: Following a one year construction period, the Koru and Harmanlik onshore wind farms – each with an output of 50 megawatts – will be placed into operation in Northwest Turkey. This now brings the total capacity of the renewable portfolio of the German-Turkish joint venture to around 287 megawatts.

Construction work on two further projects with a total output of 80 megawatts is currently in progress: The Mut wind farm (50 megawatts) is another wind farm that is due to be connected to the grid soon.

The Koru, Harmanlik, Mut and Fuatres wind farms and the already expanded Bandirma wind farm are part of the wind farm portfolio for which a master agreement was concluded with Vestas in February 2014. The joint award of the wind farm portfolio with a total output of 207 megawatts was to date the largest onshore contract issued by EnBW and also the largest in the entire Turkish wind energy market. The portfolio – consisting of four new wind farms and the expansion of the Bandirma wind farm – comprises a total of 67 Vestas V112 wind power plants. Each power plant has a hub height of 84 meters, a rotor diameter of 112 meters and a power output of around 3 megawatts. The power plants are expected to generate 721 gigawatt hours of electricity per year – enough to provide around 200,000 households with electricity sourced from wind power.

Borusan EnBW Enerji, with headquarters in Istanbul, was founded in the summer of 2009 as a joint venture between EnBW and the Turkish company Borusan. The goal of this joint venture – founded in the summer of 2009 by EnBW and the Turkish company Borusan – is to expand the generating capacity from renewable energies in Turkey by around 2,000 megawatts. The equal partners are investing several billion to achieve this goal.
