Arkema Partners with Honeywell to Deliver Next-Generation Low-GWP Refrigerants for HVACR Solutions

(IN BRIEF) Arkema is expanding its portfolio of low-GWP refrigerants with new HFO blends under its Forane® brand. In collaboration with Honeywell, Arkema is responding to increased demand for refrigerants in the HVACR industry, offering solutions that align with the HFC phasedown and improve energy efficiency. The Forane® refrigerants are suitable for a wide range of applications, including comfort cooling, commercial refrigeration, and transport refrigeration.

(PRESS RELEASE) LA DEFENSE, 21-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Arkema is expanding its portfolio of lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants to meet the growing demand for next-generation solutions in the HVACR industry. This expansion is made possible through a commercial arrangement with Honeywell International Inc., which will strengthen global supply chains and ensure continued availability of refrigerants in line with the HFC phasedown regulations.

Under its Forane® brand, Arkema will offer a range of HFO blends, many of which are already the preferred choice for leading equipment manufacturers. These refrigerants meet industry regulations while enhancing energy efficiency for both businesses and homeowners.

The following products are part of Arkema’s expanded portfolio:

• Forane® 454B (R-454B): A refrigerant with a GWP of 466, offering properties similar to R-410A. It has been specified by multiple original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for use in comfort cooling applications.
• Forane® 448A (R-448A) and Forane® 449A (R-449A): Developed as replacements for R-404A, R-507A, R-22, and R-407, these refrigerants are ideal for low- to medium-temperature commercial refrigeration applications, including supermarkets, cold storage rooms, walk-in coolers and freezers, refrigerated display cases, and centralized rack systems.
• Forane® 452A (R-452A): A suitable alternative to R-404A, particularly for transport refrigeration.
• Forane® 513A (R-513A): This refrigerant reduces GWP by more than 50% compared to R-134A and is well-suited for centrifugal chillers, medium-temperature refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pumps.
