(PRESS RELEASE) STUTTGART, 25-Jan-2022 — /EuropaWire/ — Leadec, a Stuttgart based leader in technical services for the automotive and manufacturing industries, has announced the company supported Volkswagen Group with planning and setting up of new fully automated MEB HV battery assembly lines in their components plant in Braunschweig, Germany.

Up to 500,000 batteries for models based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) are assembled annually at the Braunschweig plant. Series production of MEB batteries takes place using state-of-the-art, largely fully automated production facilities in a 40,000-square-meter manufacturing hall.

“Leadec has been involved in the project for Volkswagen since 2018 and has accompanied it through all project phases to its current status. And we continue to contribute our jointly acquired know-how to plan further production lines,” explains Markus Glaser-Gallion, CEO of Leadec.

The highest safety standards in the automotive industry apply to battery systems. The functional tests therefore play a decisive role. Leadec has contributed to the planning of the test beds in which the batteries are tested and approved with regard to their functional properties. Volkswagen uses the knowledge about the planning and development of high-voltage battery systems built up at the Braunschweig plant internationally in the group-wide network. The know-how transfer is also supported by Leadec. One member of the Leadec team is now working in China, supporting the start-up of production facilities at FAW-VW.

“We are very proud to have been part of such a trend-setting project from the very beginning. This is another important step for us to support our customers in the transformation to e-mobility in the best possible way,” says Markus Glaser-Gallion.
