Leadec donates to six charitable initiatives in celebration of its 60th anniversary

(PRESS RELEASE) STUTTGART, 14-Jul-2022 — /EuropaWire/ — Leadec, a Stuttgart based leader in technical services for the automotive and manufacturing industries, has announced the company will make six donations to six charitable initiatives in celebration of its 60th anniversary. Each charitable initiative, as chosen by its employees, will receive EUR 6060 raised by the company’s employees in a 60-day challenge of walking, biking and running.

“This year, Leadec turns 60. For us, sustainability also means giving something back to society. Leadec is therefore supporting six charitable projects and organizations that are committed to a good cause with 6060 euros each. It was particularly important for us to include our teams worldwide in this,” says Markus Glaser-Gallion, CEO of Leadec.

Six heartfelt projects

In February 2022, the 20,000 Leadec employees worldwide were called upon to suggest a project that was particularly close to their hearts. A total of 50 suggestions were submitted in the categories of education, environment, and health and safety, from which six initiatives were ultimately selected.

Kilometers for a good cause

From May 2022, things got sporty, as the 60-day challenge was launched. All employees were called upon to walk, run or bike and thus raise donations for the projects. Leadec donates 1 euro for every kilometer covered on foot or for every two kilometers cycled. In total, over 38,000 kilometers were covered in the 60 days, which is longer than the distance from Germany to Australia and back again.

Employees around the world did their utmost and logged their kilometers every day in the employee app. In total, more than 2,500 contributions were received. After just four weeks, the first project reached the sum of 6060 euros, followed just a few days later by the second project.

“Our employees’ commitment has exceeded all expectations. Whether it was 2 km from a walk during the lunch break, bike rides of 100 km or joint hikes that also involved collecting trash – we were impressed by this team spirit. That’s why we also decided to donate the maximum achievable amount of 6060 euros to all projects,” explains CEO Markus Glaser-Gallion.

The following organizations will receive a donation from Leadec of 6060 euros each.

For education

In the education category, the Center for Rural Education Development and Innovative Technology of India was selected, which supports young people in their education and women in starting a business. Ecobirmingham aims to make the city of Birmingham in the UK a greener and healthier place to live. A particular focus is on educational opportunities.

For the environment

In the environment category, The Ocean Cleanup and Mission Erde won the race. The Ocean Cleanup has the ambitious goal of ridding the world’s oceans of plastic. To do this, the organization intercepts plastic in rivers and waterways that flow into the sea and removes plastic waste from the oceans. Mission Erde aims to preserve the unique biodiversity on earth and actively protect habitats. Activities include the largest tree planting campaign in Central Europe as well as the recovery of ghost nets from the sea.

For health and safety

The organization Una Nueva Esperanza in Puebla, Mexico, supports children suffering from cancer and their families. It not only covers the costs of medical treatment, but also offers accommodation and psychological support. The Have a Heart Clinic in Louisville, USA, also gives new hope. It provides free treatment and preventive care for patients with cardiovascular diseases.
