Telia Company Earns Top Grade in CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment for Climate Leadership

(IN BRIEF) Telia Company has been awarded an ‘A’ rating in CDP’s 2024 Supplier Engagement Assessment, highlighting its leadership in mobilizing suppliers to tackle climate change. The SEA scores firms on governance, target‑setting, and value‑chain GHG management. Telia reports that suppliers covering 62 percent of its upstream emissions now have science‑based targets. The company has reduced its own operational emissions by 80 percent since 2018 and aims for net‑zero by 2040. Enhancing its supply chain’s performance is a core element of Telia’s Climate Transition Plan, alongside further reducing in‑house emissions and equipping customers with low‑carbon digital solutions.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 16-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Telia Company has achieved an ‘A’ grade in CDP’s most recent Supplier Engagement Assessment, positioning the telecoms giant among the elite globally for driving supplier climate action. This recognition is especially significant as roughly 80 percent of Telia’s carbon footprint originates beyond its own walls.

The CDP evaluation examines how businesses govern climate issues, establish emission reduction targets, measure value‑chain greenhouse‑gas outputs, and collaborate with suppliers to curb emissions. Impressively, by year‑end 2024, vendors responsible for 62 percent of Telia’s upstream emissions had adopted science‑based reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative or a comparable authority.

Since 2018, Telia has slashed its direct operational emissions by 80 percent and remains on track to achieve net‑zero by 2040. “Our environmental progress hinges on the commitments of our suppliers,” explained Anna Augustson, Group Head of Sustainability at Telia Company. “Earning an ‘A’ in CDP’s SEA underlines the collective strides we’re making toward a greener supply chain and a more sustainable tomorrow.”

Revamping supplier practices forms a central pillar of Telia’s Climate Transition Plan, which also prioritizes deepening emission cuts in its own operations and empowering customers to shrink their carbon footprints through innovative digital services.
