The exhibition, titled “Slovenia – 20 Years of Progress in the EU,” features 17 photos of EIB-funded projects that have significantly contributed to the country’s development. These projects span various sectors, including innovation, education, and infrastructure, and highlight the long-standing collaboration between Slovenia and the EIB, which has provided over €7.6 billion in financing. The exhibition was inaugurated by key officials and will run until September 30, 2024, on the Gallus Embankment.

(PRESS RELEASE) LUXEMBOURG, 2-Sep-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — The European Investment Bank (EIB) Group has unveiled a photo exhibit in Ljubljana to commemorate Slovenia’s 20th anniversary as a member of the European Union. Titled “Slovenia – 20 Years of Progress in the EU,” the exhibit showcases 17 photographs of key EIB-funded projects that have significantly contributed to Slovenia’s development. The projects highlighted range from innovation and education to infrastructure improvements, reflecting the deep collaboration between Slovenia and the EIB, which has provided over €7.6 billion in financing since 1977.

The exhibit, located on the Gallus Embankment, was officially opened on August 29, 2024, and will be available for public viewing until September 30, 2024. Key figures at the inauguration included Simon Savšek, head of the EIB Group office in Slovenia, EIB Vice-President Kyriacos Kakouris, and Slovenian Finance Minister Klemen Boštjančič.

Savšek emphasized the EIB’s long-standing support for Slovenia’s development, while Kakouris highlighted the tangible benefits EIB financing has brought to the country, particularly in areas like energy renovation and support for small and medium-sized enterprises. Minister Boštjančič celebrated the strong partnership between Slovenia and the EIB, expressing confidence in the continued success of future projects aimed at boosting economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.

This exhibit not only marks two decades of Slovenia’s EU membership but also symbolizes the powerful outcomes of collaboration between the nation and the EIB in driving sustainable development.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the long-term lending institution of the European Union owned by its Member States. It finances projects that further EU policy objectives such as social and territorial cohesion, competitiveness, innovation, sustainable development and a fair and rapid transition to a low carbon economy.
