Vienna Insurance Group welcomes Peter Thirring in its management team and Liane Hirner as Chief Financial Officer

VIENNA, 05-Jul-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — Some changes are taking place in the line-up of Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) Managing Board team in the middle of 2018. Peter Thirring joins the VIG management team on 1 July, and at the same time, Liane Hirner takes the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Vienna Insurance Group is the only listed company in the ATX index with gender parity at the managing board level.

Peter Thirring is leaving his position as General Manager of VIG Group company Donau Versicherung to move to VIG Holding. The insurance expert began his career 34 years ago in the area of reinsurance. Starting in July 2018, he will be responsible for compliance and the active reinsurance business in VIG. Among this are the activities of Group company VIG Re, located in Prague, and its recent expansion plans in Western Europe. Peter Thirring was already appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of VIG Re at the end of April 2018. At the same time, as a member of the VIG Managing Board, he also assumes responsibility for the countries of Slovakia, Georgia, Turkey and Liechtenstein. He gained experience in the CEE region as area manager of Generali in Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia. In Slovakia, he was Chairman of the Managing Board of Generali’s Slovakian insurance subsidiary.

Liane Hirner has been a member of the VIG Managing Board since February 2018 and takes over the CFO function starting 1 July from Martin Simhandl, who requested to leave the Managing Board after 32 years of working for the Group.
