UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones to give revealing insight into his business journey at government-backed event in Liverpool

LIVERPOOL, 11-May-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Digital entrepreneur Lawrence Jones MBE, CEO of fast-growing tech brand UKFast, is set to give revealing insight into his business journey at a government-backed event in Liverpool.

The Entrepreneurs Exchange, which takes place at St George’s Hall on 18th of May, is a collaboration between a group of the UK’s leading business founders, the government and HSBC. The series of events, running concurrently at 19 locations across the UK, brings together the people behind brands including Ted Baker, Ann Summers, Tangle Teezer, Carphone Warehouse, Mumsnet and Net-A-Porter.

Jones has organically grown his cloud infrastructure company from a back bedroom startup to a £275m enterprise employing 270 people over the past 16 years.

He said: “It’s great to see the government stepping up to support budding entrepreneurs. We have some incredible talent and amazing small businesses in this country and this is a fantastic opportunity to help them develop and to celebrate entrepreneurialism.

“I am honoured to have been asked to speak in Liverpool and I’ll be sharing the lessons that I have learned during more than 30 years as an entrepreneur at the event.”

Entrepreneurs Exchange enables leading business figures to connect with the next generation of business founders, to share the advice they wish they we had been given and to provide support. The initiative is aligned with Exporting is GREAT, which aims to inspire and support 100,000 additional UK businesses to sell their goods and services overseas by 2020.

Jones, who was last year awarded an MBE for services to the digital economy, continues: “The digital economy is opening up more opportunities to trade with our neighbours. Thousands of new online businesses are springing up each year, and new technologies and services make it easier than ever to reach markets in Europe and beyond.

“New businesses currently have instant access to a marketplace of 508 million people in the EU and billions more beyond that. There’s never been a better time to set up an export business.

”In 2015, UKFast achieved EBITDA of £16.2m on a turnover of £34.3m and is set to utilise a £40m bank fund from RBS to drive the next phase of its explosive growth.
