Sweco’s Expertise to Bolster Drinking Water Infrastructure in Ukraine

The initiative, funded by Swedfund, seeks to bolster the water quality, distribution system, and capacity in collaboration with Kremenchuk City Council and its water company.

Specialists from Sweco will bring their proficiency in urban water engineering, process engineering, hydrology, and environmental impact analysis to expedite the reconstruction and modernization of the drinking water supply system. The project encompasses various aspects, including a feasibility study covering technical, environmental, social, and economic factors, as well as an evaluation of available water resources in the region, ensuring water sustainability for the next 25 years. Additionally, the project places a strong emphasis on energy efficiency, resulting in an upgraded, expanded, and more resilient drinking water infrastructure.

The Sweco-led project, which commenced in November, is anticipated to conclude in August 2024. It adheres to national, EU, and international development bank standards and financing conditions, supported by Swedfund, a Swedish development finance institution.

This undertaking underscores Sweco’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s development, following its earlier announcement regarding participation in housing construction initiatives across six cities in Western Ukraine.
