Statkraft Sells Canadian Renewables Portfolio to Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure

(IN BRIEF) Statkraft will sell its Canadian renewables arm, Enerfín Canada, to Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure Ltd. The deal, expected to close by year-end 2025, encompasses two operating wind farms (236 MW), a 0.8 GW wind and solar development portfolio, and all local staff. Executive VP Barbara Flesche praised the transaction as recognition of Enerfín’s strong project pipeline and team capability. This divestment marks the culmination of Statkraft’s strategy to exit non-core Enerfín markets following its acquisition of 1.5 GW of renewables capacity in Spain and Brazil in late 2023–early 2024.

(PRESS RELEASE) OSLO, 1-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Statkraft has reached an agreement to divest Enerfín Canada—its entire Canadian renewables business—to Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure Ltd. This transaction transfers not only the operating wind farms and development pipeline but also the dedicated local team.

“I’m delighted we’ve found a strong new home for our Canadian renewables portfolio,” said Barbara Flesche, Executive Vice President at Statkraft. “Under Atlantica’s ownership, this business can continue to expand. This deal validates the expertise our Enerfín team has built and the appeal of our Canadian projects. We look forward to seeing their future success.”

Enerfín Canada, headquartered in Montreal with additional offices in Calgary and Saint-Ferdinand, Québec, comprises two wind farms totaling 236 MW of installed capacity and a development pipeline of six wind and solar projects totaling 0.8 GW. The agreement includes all experienced staff currently managing these assets.

The transaction is slated to close before the end of 2025, with both parties agreeing to keep financial terms confidential.

This sale completes Statkraft’s planned divestment of Enerfín assets outside its core markets. Statkraft initially acquired the broader Enerfín portfolio in November 2023—finalized in May 2024—adding 1.5 GW of wind and solar capacity in operation or under construction in Spain and Brazil. “By concluding this deal, we have successfully exited all non-core Enerfín markets,” Flesche added, noting that global uncertainty had delayed the final transactions.
