Schneider Electric Launches Expanded Environmental Data Program to Boost Product Transparency

(IN BRIEF) Schneider Electric has launched the Environmental Data Program to provide expanded environmental information on its products. Increasing from 5 to 14 data attributes, the program now covers 110,000 product references, representing 70% of turnover, with a goal of reaching 80% by year’s end. Building on its Green Premium label, the initiative supports transparency, regulatory compliance, and customer decision-making amid rising climate urgency. The program has received strong support from partners like Rexel and positions Schneider as a leader in environmental product data.

(PRESS RELEASE) RUEIL-MALMAISON, 24-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Schneider Electric, global leader in energy management and automation, has unveiled its Environmental Data Program, a significant expansion of its commitment to product sustainability and transparency. Building on the foundation of its Green Premium label, this new initiative delivers broader and deeper access to product environmental impact data, empowering customers to make more informed and responsible choices aligned with regulatory and climate goals.

The program increases the number of disclosed environmental attributes from five to 14, now covering critical factors such as carbon footprint, energy efficiency, packaging, recycled content, and more. These metrics are currently available online for 110,000 Schneider Electric product references—representing 70% of the company’s turnover. The target is to reach 80% by the end of 2025, expanding coverage to 155,000 references.

Launched at a time of growing environmental urgency—amidst record global temperatures and increasing demands for circularity and transparency—the Environmental Data Program is designed to support businesses in meeting evolving global regulations, including the draft EU Green Claims Directive. The data not only assists with internal sustainability efforts but also strengthens competitive advantage through compliance readiness and improved reporting capacity.

Schneider Electric’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Chris Leong, emphasized the company’s long-standing leadership in this space: “With over 15 years of experience in environmental product data, we’ve built a legacy of trust and transparency. Our Environmental Data Program sets a new industry benchmark in data accessibility and performance.”

The initiative has already been welcomed by Schneider’s partners. Céline Coulibre-Duménil, Chief Sustainability Officer at Rexel, praised the program’s impact: “Giving customers access to transparent and factual data to inform their environmental decisions is essential. We fully support Schneider Electric’s ambition to raise the standard for product sustainability transparency across the industry.”

By making comprehensive environmental information readily available, Schneider Electric is helping customers transition toward more sustainable business practices—supporting the principles of decarbonization, circularity, and digital transformation in a time when data-driven action is more crucial than ever.
