(PRESS RELEASE) LA DÉFENSE, 18-Dec-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — On December 9th, Thales and HungaroControl, a leading European air navigation service provider (ANSP), announced a strategic partnership for the upgraded version of Thales’ TopSky – ATC system. This advanced system is designed to enhance air traffic safety and efficiency, addressing the growing demands of increased air traffic. Through this collaboration, HungaroControl becomes a member of Alliance One, a dynamic user group that plays an active role in shaping the future development of TopSky – ATC systems.

Alliance One, already comprising seven European ANSPs, enables members to collaborate on shared innovations and contribute to decision-making regarding the product’s development roadmap. More ANSPs are expected to join the initiative in the coming months, strengthening the collaborative approach to air traffic control advancements.

The upgraded TopSky – ATC solution introduces a suite of improvements in data integration and flight planning, enhancing the monitoring and tracking of aircraft trajectories. Its real-time decision support capabilities allow for more efficient management of complex situations, bolstering both safety and operational efficiency. The system’s new business model offers enhanced budget planning for ATC operations, regulatory compliance, and cybersecurity, while adding new functionalities to ensure long-term sustainability.

In line with the European Union’s goal of creating a Single European Sky (SES), this collaboration between HungaroControl and Thales aims to harmonize and optimize air traffic management across Europe, addressing critical industry needs through shared governance and decision-making. The new governance structure within Alliance One fosters collaboration between ANSPs and Thales, ensuring that the product evolves continuously to meet the changing demands of the industry.

Christian Rivierre, VP of Airspace Mobility Solutions at Thales, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership:
“We are thrilled to have HungaroControl renew their trust in our TopSky – ATC solution and to join them on this transformative journey towards the future of air traffic control. With the support and collaboration from Alliance One, we are confident in delivering innovative solutions that enhance air traffic management and create safer skies for everyone.”

Ferenc Turi, CEO of HungaroControl, emphasized the significance of the long-standing partnership with Thales:
“Our collaboration with Thales has always been rooted in mutual trust and a shared commitment to innovation. As we strive to be a leading ANSP in Europe, adopting cutting-edge solutions like TopSky – ATC is vital to enhancing efficiency and flight safety. This continued partnership is great news for both airlines and passengers, and we are excited to write the next chapters of success in European aviation alongside Thales.”
